IMPORTANT UPDATEFrom now on we will only allow the hussar class. Thus, to make it as fair as possible we will go with one class. Heavy cavalry regiments are still more than welcome to sign up as hussars! Since no regiments have signed up as heavies yet.

And one question has this event or tournament the same structure/System like CNWL?

It does not have the same structure as the CNWL. This will be a short tournament over a couple of days. There will be a bracket with 8 teams and it will be a direct knockout. The teams will be divided into two tiers based on their position in the previous league. Tier 1 teams will be randomized against Tier 2.

Thread updated for those of you who disagree with the name of this tournament. Now I would prefer if we leave this behind and focus on the tournament instead of useless complaints about the tournament's cavalry class. There is not a lot of regimental tournaments out there for cavalry so I would prefer that we stay classy and make this work. Setting a bad example here might deter others from hosting events for the community. Keep in mind that the rule change was made before any heavy cavalry signed up. The decision was taken in account to the wish of a majority from the community. Sometimes you have to make decisions that will infuriate some but please the majority. The decision would not have been taken if any regiment would have signed up as heavies before the rule change.

so you basically gave less than 24h to let an heavy regiment to sign up and try to contest the rule, in a period of vacation for pretty much everyone i believe

I think to chose one champion of the entire hussar community you should offer more spaces for regiments.
Btw how many regiments did message you exactly?
Because of the 5 regiments attending right now probably 4 messaged you maybe.
If people wants to make it a group stage and then a bracket. I would be open to doing that as well.
If more regiments are interested in joining then I think it would be worth changing the way the tournament is set up.
Can brick back CNC then :DIf more regiments are interested in joining then I think it would be worth changing the way the tournament is set up.
I agree with that, as I said to Nytek on Steam, a tournament kinda made on the WC template would be nice, groupstage then bracket with semis and a final. Classical Cup I'd say :p

Update: Since we now have 8 regiments we will change the number of participants to 12. We have four slots left available. This means that we will have to do two groups with 6 participants in each. Six teams will be seeded as tier 1 and the other six as tier 2. We will then divide the participants so that there is three of each. The teams in the group will have to go head to head against each other. You're guaranteed at least 5 games, after that the best two teams in the group will go through to the semi-finals. This will, however, take a couple of weeks as most regiments would be unwilling to do more than one 1vs1 per week. We might have to include one week's break as well. I hope that everyone is willing to agree to this. My plan at first was to make a swift tournament but having gauged the comments in here it looks like most of you would have as many teams participating as possible. If you do not agree with this then let me know!
Yes. I know that this might not be what everyone wants but I think it will lead to the best competition. If a medium regiment is to win the thing then they need to beat the best anyway. Hey Nytek! Many thanks for taking the time to host a tournament, I am not really part of the cavalry community but I do look forward to see how it plays out.SpoilerYes. I was just wondering if this was still a thing? Aka, do you still plan to spread teams in each part of the bracket depending on their skill/reputation, making two 'even' groups in the brackets. Looking at the brackets you put as an exemple, teams seem to be spread completly randomly but then again, you said it was an exemple so I am wondering if you changed your mind or if you still think its a good idea? (Because lets be frank, if you still think it is, I do believe it might be worth adressing to you why it really isn't).
Also, looking at your idea which is to host a 'fast-paced' tournament due to popular demand, did you consider the idea of adding a loser brackets? I am not completly sure yet how you can work it out without lenghtening the tournament too much and still giving enough time to the teams in the loser brackets to play their matches ; but with only twelve teams partaking into this tournament, it would give the opportunity to every teams to play a minimum of two matches and with it, adding the possibility of not being completly out due to a bad start, and with not so many 'extra' matches added.
Just an idea, obviously some people might be hostile to it for obvious reasons but I just came across your thread and assumed it was worth adding it as a suggestion.
Last but not least, I had the chance to catch one of the match of the last CNWL, live-streaming it on IVe Corps' youtube channel with Syrcrim and Nerza and it was a really enjoyable experience. September is still far way but if you'd like to have a similar coverage being done on your tournament when it goes live (in french), feel free to contact us. Once more, best of luck for your project!

Today, I have been setting up the servers for the upcoming tournament. Two of the servers are hosted by me (Nuremberg 1 & 2) and the additional servers are hosted by Simrai (http://simrai.com)! Please make sure to agree on the location between the regiments depending on where your users are based. My German servers are really good though. I like the single-elimination format, it always brings amazing tournaments. Everyone got into the league-system a bit too much imo, it's always great to have shorter, more intense competitions like this cup. Thanks again for it.

Disagreed here. First of all, what do you mean by "shorter and more intense", this competition surely took a while and had maybe 2-3 tense matches, with very long intervals in-between.
Regiments disbanding/leaving + single elimination format = ruined tournament. League system works like insurance if the pool of participants changes when it's too late to make adjustments. In case of single elimination, there's not much you can do. Hence such oddities as, for example, my regiment entering the competition in semi-finals. We didn't play good enough to realize this scenario, but it still meant that the "cup" could have been won by a regiment that played merely two matches in its last stage. This shouldn't be an option, even technically.
Only bottom half of the 1st bracket went relatively smooth, with majority of the matches actually taking place. So only host's regiment enjoyed a wholesome tournament experience, which makes him look like kind of guy who invites people to a tea party and then pours a full cup of herbal delight only for himself, NOT vErY_nIcE!!!!
Rasti u left the pic of a cat crying.. why u dont like a single tournament that ppl organize? maybe u should have to organize one with ur rules or something.

What do u mean I don't like a single tournament ppl organize, I loved last CNWL - was enjoyable, fair and the best regiment won. And for your information, I did host a tournament in the past (it was before you learned to press "W"), one which has later served as a model for Cavalry_Groupfighting 5v5 tournament cycle.Spoiler(https://i.pinimg.com/236x/61/2f/e0/612fe086424eb5ff180df4feb877deec--okay-okay-pusheen-cat.jpg)[close]

With regards to the 8th having a fun wholesome tournament experience, it certainly was but remember the brackets were random
