Sorry for double post!
Should we include one or two colonial troops for each faction, or should we stick with the european theatre?

There were colonial troops that served in the European theatre.

I don't think even the French African army fought in 1914, and they were a lot closer than the British colonies.

If you're covering 1915, then you ought to include some French colonial troops, as they were the first to ever be attacked with poison gas (at the Second Battle of Ypres).

I thought that gas was first used in The Battle of Loos. I remember because it caused many casualties on the side that used it due to wind changes.

Anyway, on the case of colonial troops: Colonial Troops for the french will probably be the North African Zouaves. Thats only if the positivity for colonial troops stays.

And for an update on the mod: SirMrGuy is currently working on the german helmets. The infantry Pickelhaube, then the cavalry pickelhaube, then the Uhlan helmet. We also have some weapons from luckes WW1 OSP that i'm working on texturing.

Are the pickelhaube going to be with or without protection?

With protection. It would be painfully historically inaccurate otherwise.

Did only the Germans have helmets (boiled leather, but even so) in 1914, did everyone else wear caps?

Everyone else wore their traditional caps and uniforms in 1914. The british uniforms were the same as in the second boer war and in the french counterpart, the uniforms had changed very little since the franco-prussian war of 1870.

What about the Ottomans?

One usually sees them in khaki with pith helmets, when they joined in November 1914, how were they typically kitted out?

When did the British devise those caps they wore in combat during 1914/15?

I know the Russians had a similar sort, possibly as far back as the 1870s.
