The 24th Illinois Infantry Regiment is the internal Battle Cry of Freedom Regiment of the Infantry Regiment Herwarth v. Bittenfeld (1st Westphalian) Nr.13.
With few exceptions, the entire crew consists of members of the Mount & Blade: Warband - Napoleonic Wars originating regiment. The Nr.13 has undergone
several different restructurings since its creation at the end of 2016. Initially planned as an ordinary German Public-LB regiment. Partly with Artillery and
Skirmisher battalions, the regiment has evolved since the beginning of 2018 under Oberst Faser's leadership into a competitive infantry regiment.
The Nr.13 has never avoided a challenge, whether it is national or international. EIC, DGL or any other tournaments. The Nr.13 has always striven to be
competitive. Nevertheless, the core values of discipline and regimental loyalty were an integral part of the regiment since the beginning. Since merging
with the 2tesGFR in October 2019, a fair share of Public-LB also returned to the regiment in the form of the Fusiliers, who initially mainly focused
on linebattles. However, as before, the development of a competitive squad is one of the main priorities of the regiment. As a result, the Fusiliers have now
been integrated into the Infantry and all events are held together. This includes the regiment's own GF-Team, which is made up exclusively of members within
the regiment and has already achieved a number of success in the past.
Colonel Faser continues to lead the Nr.13 and the 24th Illinois Infantry Regiment into battle. Supported by the regimental staff and enlisted.
| | The 24th Illinois Volunteer Infantry Regiment was a regiment of the Union Army during the Armerican Civil War made up of mostly German immigrants along with Swiss, Swedish and Hungarian immigrants. The regiment mustered into service and organized at Chicago, Illinois in the summer of 1861. The soldiers of the 24th Illinois experienced many facets of the Civil War, including death, disease, desertion, and regimental dissension. Throughout the war, the soldiers of the 24th Illinois experienced a unique form of Americanization through their experiences in the American military. Additionally, the story of the 24th lllinois regiment is one of dissatisfaction and discontent. Before one can fully understand the dynamics and culture of the 24th Illinois, one must first examine the community from which the regiment's soldiers came. According to the decennial census, the population of Chicago in 1860 was 112.172, making it the ninth largest city in the United States at the time. Of the 112.172, 22.230 were German born. The population of Chicago increased dramatically from 1850 to 1860, in part, because of the influx of German immigrants taking place during this time period. Many of the German immigrants were "48ers," participants in the 1848 uprisings and revolts that occurred throughout Europe. As a result of the failures in 1848, many Germans immigrated to the United States and settled in cities such as Minneapolis and Chicago. This influx of immigrants helped create a strong German influence and culture in Chicago at the time of the Civil War. |
