So how are you going to balance the guns for the British and not make them extremely OP while not making them under powered? Will add in a system so that Zulus shields can withstand the impact of 1 bullet then they break, or will the Zulus be able to shout which gives them a large buff so they can take more damage?

Being my first serious model entering modelling for the first time I made it far too detailed, luckily blender has a "decimate" tool which must be baking, so i put the the triangles down to 5000 from 22000 and it still looks the same detail in game, and i kept a save of the detailed version for fun too since I'm quite proud of it :DA start in modeling :P our Martini Rifle. Well we recommend zulu players use black characters but ultimately i don't think we can force them to. We can make all zulus have black bodies because the naked torso is actually an item but i don't think it's possible to force the player only use black faces.

I would recommend altering the loading background, using either one of two ways; vectorise it (by drawing it out in Illustrator, but this is a long and potentially tedious process) or apply a cutout filt to it (using Photoshop). In my opinion, the image you currently have is quite low resolution and to be honest, is a slight eyesore; therefore a slightly nice improvement would be to follow one of my suggestions above. The cutout effect is the easiest and I will explain it, but it may not be the best solution here, it's just what I feel is from my experience - more experienced Photoshop users may have easier or more effective ways to do this.

However, if you are to use this, I would recommend that you remain consistent with other backgrounds and applhy a similar effect to those also.

To clarify about fire rate: whilst fire rate will be historically accurate, at the stated level, British troops will not be able to carry much ammunition.
I would like (no certainty here) to figure out some sort of ammo box solution, a sort of resupply point, but that's certainly not going to be in the first few builds. There are more pressing matters than that right now.

We will probably have some Natal units. Natal was the British colony in south Africa and sort of had it's own separate military from the British army.
Will the Zulus have archers or any type of ranged units?A few Zulus had stolen rifles or muskets, either from ambushing supplies, or killing regiments of the British. I would believe they had Archers though.
The main factor for a few Zulu's getting rifles was actually prior to the war chief Catchewayo told his elders to buy guns from Boer traders. If they massacred battalions then the Anglo-Zulu war would be a bigger factor of British history. I don't think Zulus would get guns... but I imagine Commander Battles to be very fun for this. I also like the idea of massive hoards of Zulu-bots attacking 25-50 players as British soldiers.

Yes BUT the 91st were the only Scots in there with Trousers, all the other regiments had Kilts.
True Historical fact.you guys should make the 78th in there too, it fought hard in the war and took some of the most damage amongst the Highland Regiments.

Yeah, we will likely have a playable release done very soon, with at least 1-2 British "Troop types", and 1-2 Zulu "Troop Types". We may or may not have a custom map ready for play, but I'd imagine we'd like to have that done as well. :P

It's released so download it. Since it will take a bit longer for servers, host your own game and put bots on.

I can't remember the exact figures and years but I think in the years 1872-76 60,000 guns were imported,mostly muzzle loadering snider enfields.
Hundreds were gained at Isandlwana and many more at a convoy ambush,though the name of that one escapes me.

Initial Opinion(from playing tutorial)
Gun works perfectly reloads and shots well, the basic British infantry class looks really good. Only weird thing is artillery to be positioned adjacent to the cannon so it looks weird when I am firing it.

One thing I have noticed I am assuming the zulu model and its hit box (sorry I don't know the technical term :-\) are different as shots to the bottom and top of shield go straight through.

Forced black faces using a mask is a nice idea but I do not think it is feasible, here is why.
1. There would be a massive lack of face variety, making everyone look the same, if you've been in a regiment a while you can recognize players by their face, not with masks.
2. Big faces would clip through the mask, looking very strange and buggy
3. Each mask would have to be part of the helmet which would have to be added onto each hat which wastes a lot of time (There are a lot of zulu hats, it's alpha with 2 units and theres about 12 hats so far)
4. Masks would be double the faces adding a lot more polys giving a lower fps.
5. It would make the zulus seem as if their heads were very big which would look weird.
I don't think it's worth it, if a regiment knows it will be playing Zulu they should choose black characters, otherwise you will have to accept it sadly.
But what if British regiments are going to be playing as Zulu for balancing?They are like Boer people and they are mixed like Zulu body and Boer head :D.
I played it for half an hour until I was needed elsewhere and I thoroughly enjoyed it, really well done especially as it's in it's early stages.Just installed it! Looking forward to what it has to offer.

And when it comes to people with fat faces and such, well... Then some face clipping through is better than the black bodies and white faces they have now.

Here is an idea: Look at the codes. You could use a different face model for the Zulu´s overriding the default face with that one. Just copy the model and color the faces and add them to the zulu face model. Im not sure how but im sure your coder will be able to do that (if you have one)
Let me explain better: The Source Code. Assign a head model to it. In this case a Zulu Face model.
You can maybe over ride the Default Face selection (Meaning it wont let the face you have chosen show up on a zulu, you would have different faces for that (The ones you assigned it to the zulu Face model)) If you have a talented coder it could maybe be done. Or else Happy White head on a dark body time
You need to allow change map and faction vote, because when it changes map, somethings UK get 55 bots and it's on TDM. Or it needs to be fixed.

In the update, how did you "Nerf" the spears? It better not be a damage or throwing distance decrease because Zulu is already at a huge disadvantage and I don't want this to turn into Rome at War with balancing issues. Also I think I saw someone saying that the download link is over exhausted, if not it is and please fix it. Also, good luck, I was playing it and it is really fun but it just needs a good server because the server was laggy and it made the game hard to actually play and to have fun with, but I don't mean that the mod is bad, it is pretty dang awesome actually.

The new update seems to stop text and kills appearing on-screen.It may have something to do with not deleting your old files. Try deleting the entire module and just reinstalling 0.02.

I can help you out, First you need to download the mount and blade dedicated files, then you have to port forward (assuming you know how). Once downloaded, make a copy of "The Anglo Zulu war" which is located in - Computer > C Drive or Main Drive > Program Files x86 > Steam > SteamApps < Common < Mount and Blade Warband > Modules. Place the copy in the module folder in the dedicated files folder. Right click on NW_Sample_Battle_Start and press edit. Replace Napoleonic Wars which is after the -r with The Anglo Zulu war or you can just remove everything and paste this in - "mb_warband_dedicated.exe -r NW_Sample_Battle.txt -m The Anglo Zulu war" (Without Quotes). Once you are done, start up the server by clicking NW_Sample_Battle_Start and it should be on the server list.

Hey, I used to be in a re-enactment group for the Anglo-Zulu wars, I was part of the 80th Regiment of Foot Staffordshire Volunteers. So I was wondering will you be adding this regiment to the mod? If you needed any help with the uniform I still have mine here.

It is being uploaded at the moment, however due to a few minor reasons that it would make little sense to disclose it will be a bit longer than that before it's actually released here.

I don't like using dropbox, sendspace has a max file size of 300mb and only works on a basis of email to email, we're not going to personally email the mod to everyone...

Well, its actually pretty hard to tell. I'm using about 30 different dirt layers for my textures, to get it done.

Personally i think that the Zulu's where already underpowered in the 0.02 version, and with the reduced accuracy i only see this becoming more of a problem. In the last "battle" i went to ( Also my first ) the Zulu's didn't really have a chance until we went mostly rifles and it was a 1:1 battle. And then we still had a lot of problem with defeating the British ( I believe we won 1 round, out of 7 ). I understand where you are coming from with the reduced accuracy, but i think that would only make the game more unbalanced. I might of course be wrong.

We want it to be humans Vs bots and humans vs humans, that's why the humans Zulu has different stats to the bot zulus, which is quite noticeable when you respawn as a bot. We do want it to be balanced for PvP however we still want it to be representative of the Zulu war, so Zulus should still have to outnumber Brits in PvP. At the first tuesday event it was perfect, the Brits had 40 and the Zulus had 60, and it was very balanced with the Zulus winning 2 our of 5 rounds and all rounds being close, the Brits were using proper formations and the map wasn't flat enough for them to just camp and blast the Zulus from a mile away. We don't want to balance it by giving the British really poor accuracy or damage as that just isn't fun, the weapons of the era were essentially modern rifles, they were accurate, i feel it's better to give zulus Olympian spear throwing skills than nerf the British rifles. That way it's improved for both teams rather than decreased.

When I downloaded this mod and tried to install it, after i selected the language, it said "This mod requires the Napoleonic Wars expansion for Warband. Please get it on www.taleworlds.com or other places like steam, and then re-run the set up" I already have Mount and Blade Warabnd and the Napoleonic wars DLC on steam? Light infantry have 9 agility, the NW default is 3. They need to be able to run fast and It's mainly for human players. It doesn't affect bots because they put their shields up.

- make sure that the value is the same as your CD key. Also make sure that the key is separated correctly. Double click the entry and modify it until it is correct. Watch out for invisible spaces in the CD key.

The Anglo–Zulu War was fought in 1879 between the British Empire and the Zulu Kingdom. Frere, on his own initiative, without the approval of the British governmen and with the intent of instigating a war with the Zulu, had presented an ultimatum on 11 December 1878, to the Zulu king Cetshwayo with which the Zulu king could not comply. Cetshwayo did not comply and Bartle Frere sent Lord Chelmsford to invade Zululand.The war is notable for several particularly bloody battles, including a stunning opening victory by the Zulu at Isandlwana, and the defiant victory for the British at Rorke's drift, as well as for being a landmark in the timeline of imperialism in the region. The war eventually resulted in a British victory and the end of the Zulu nation's independence.
The Mod
The Anglo Zulu war is a modification for Mount and Blade: Napoleonic wars, which seeks to bring you back to the Anglo Zulu conflict, in true Mount & Blade style. You will be able to play as the British, fighting off hordes of Zulu warriors, or play as the Zulus to drive the British from your homeland. You will use a variety of historical weapons, such as the Martini Henry Rifle, The Beaumont Adams revolver, and Zulu weapons such as clubs, spears and axes. The mod is split between Players Vs Bots and Players Vs Players, with eventual invasion style gamemodes planned for bot gameplay.

we are having major probs with sappers

Okay we're sorry for the delays, I know it's frustrating. First we had an error where the sapper hammer didn't work at all, it was just a regular weapon. We fixed that, but then we discovered the sappers hammer could place an object, but it wouldn't build it, only destroy. We managed to fix that, and the latest version should be up by tomorrow. Sorry for the delays, it seems to happen a lot in modding.

Sorry guys i have been busy to answer of fix anything. redownload the mod. Tell the server providers to update their servers. I believe the man that gave me a original download link from gamefront had the wrong script file "which is prob why you all get kicked from a server is cause ur script file is different).Please don't use Gamefront in the future! Gamefront doesn't work in these countries:

Gamefront never worked for me, and this new download thing just says that "The file you have selected (The_Anglo_Zulu_war_V0.04.exe) is not available via any mirrors."If you become a member at moddb you will be able to download easier.

I was able to play v4 without any trouble last week, than 15 minutes ago I got the cheat kick for the very first time. Redownloading the mod now.

There are still about 12-25 people on the server daily, if you count the usual trolls it's a reason people leave.
