Insanely cheap actually... for the condition.
Maybe it was used to murder someone and they had to get rid of it somehow.

Have to get rid of the rust probably, re-blacken the barrel and it's rings and it's good to go.

Perhaps some extra overall servicing.

That looks pretty nice. Pretty soon I'm gonna buy a 1853 Enfield from Armi sport, when I can muster up the money.

Surprised to hear original and cheap in one sentence about ACW.

However I must warn you, if you are going to use it for reenactment. That's highly dangerous and banned at most events. Old guns are unreliable.

But it'll make hell of a display piece no doubt.

Originals are something I would set up on my wall not use at an event.
Of course, I also think lines should be able to move in double rank without having emotional breakdowns.

To the extend where people prefer and actively try to get originals.

To me, it's more about gun safety than the history of the gun. Barrel fragment aren't fun when you're huddled in line.

Which is why it's going to be proofed by a weapon smith before i even dare to put any form of powder in there.

In the Netherlands the law states any gun produced before 1870 is free to have, or produced before 1945 that is made for black powder is free to have. (and some other exceptions)

Meaning modern replicas fall under the law to need a weapon licence, and this is no joke;

- Over the age of 18
- Blank spanking clear criminal record.
- let your mental state be checked out by a psychiatrist
- More than a year a member of a group.
- You must have a weapon safe where your guns should be inside at all times. and only out if there is an event and you cannot ever be not holding your gun.
- You can max have 5 weapons.
- You can only get weapons that fit your reenactment group that your officially registered with.

Oh yeah, you also get regular checking from the police if your guns are in the safe etc. and if you make one slight mistake, like your cleaning it you risk the chance to loose your license for 3 years because it was "not in the safe".

Also these licenses have to be given out by the local law enforcement, and they usually never heard about reenactment, and more often than not they don't even give you your license.

Your laws. I understand. Getting it proofed is okay but collectors gonna freak. Anyway we have a similar law in US but basically any rifles before this specific year require no license which includes modern reproduction. Simply because it was build the same way, not gonna have M16 mag with my 61 Springfield lel.

god bless America.

P.s.  Ever wanna reenact in Murica. Rent a gun because no way you will pass inspection with a original rifle. Just a head up. Now enjoy your Dutch laws.
