What would be a good place to buy ACW Union uniforms?

NJ Sekela http://www.njsekela.com/

Wambaugh http://www.wwandcompany.com/

dude you can find it for a lot cheaper such as http://www.regtqm.com but  i would not go down the mainstream road. The links that DEO posted are sutlers well worth your time. (and money)

Dammit munk you are such a farb.

Williams, you asked for a good place, Wambaugh, Sekela, and Stony Brooks Company are good place to get your uniform. Regimental has wrong sack coat construction and inferior quality. However they just got a new coat in addition. Schykill Arnsel Sack coat. Looks ok. Still regimental is notorious for being inferior quality. Many progressive unit do not accept regimentals except for other thing such as tin cup, blankets, just stay away from the uniforms. You will regret it.

i forgot to add link for Stony Brooks Company http://www.stonybrookcompany.com/

I highly recommend Stony Brooks for trouser. It is perfect middle ground for people who strive to be authentic yet cant afford the 200 dollar trouser. The quality is no doubt, authentic and yet for 125. You can go far into museum quality for 195 just for parts where it would be handsewn instead of machine.

I agree. Get at least your trousers, jacket and hat from a high quality tailor. You'll be able to use it for years and show it off to everybody. Eventually, you got to put everything in perspective. A jacket that costs $350 dollars yet will never have to be replaced until it falls apart over >10 years is eventually just 35 bucks a year, while a jacket that costs 150$ which will tear at your third event is effectively more expensive. Plus it doesn't look as good.

Trust me, nothing gets you more respect from your veteran re-enactment mates then walking around in a High quality jacket to show everybody you mean business.

Damned guys, now I want to do ACW  :-[ :'( :'(

Technically it already exists. It's just two or three guys with a uniform somewhere in a closet, though. Spending a lot of money on a 100% authentic uniform for max one event a year is just not worth it.

Plus, the 25th served on the western front and those guys for the greatest parts had those ugly hats, instead of sexy forage caps.

ACW re-enactment in Europe is as big as Napoleonic re-enactment in the US. Probably smaller.

It's just not worth it, guys. Wish it was. I'd love to join your ranks and shout obscure Dutch things at the rebels.

Remember to shoot that Duuring cartridge, right?
