So far I've figured that the things I'm gonna need first are a gambeson, a belt and a shield.

The shield's the only thing I can't really loan because I'm left handed and it's sort of unfair to borrow a shield off the only other lefty in the group.
Gambeson because I need one that fits me and I can fasten easily, I'm bad with knots so the ones that have ties at the front tend to come unfastened after a while. Belt because I'm a skinny sod.

Won't be buying anything until I'm a few months in at least, though.

Crawling back to you,
Ever thought of calling when you've had a few? 'cause I always do.

Probably one of the very few old-timers here who hasn't been a regimental leader.

Duuring, do you happen to know a shop in either the Netherlands or somewhere in Europe that sells working muskets. Been trying to get into reenacting, but I want to collect some stuff first, so far I already got a Sabre-briquet.

New muskets are classified as firearms, so you need a license for it, or, as Duuring earlier said to me, be a member of a historical group for what? 2 years?

That was to explain how bitch they are to get your hands on. Now I think you could better go to germany for them. I thought they were cheaper there.

I HIIIIIIGHLY recommened you FIRST join a re-enactment unit before collecting gear. The change your sabre-briquet is incorrect for the period you want do, is pretty high. And obviously, getting a fire-arm permit without being a member of a living history (For a year) groups is hard. More-over, people are not always to keen on having people 'on their doorstep' saying 'I've got a musket, can I join?'. It gives the bad...impression.

You can always add me on steam if you want to talk. My steam is the same as my name here.

Without a permit here, you still can't use it. And no, they aren't any more or less expensive then here.

Yeah, it gives him a nice late-war look. Volkssturm or something, maybe.

Is it for Movember, or are you just growing a beard?

Got it, better join a reenacting group first and inquire about what to get from them.
