1er Corps Franc de la Seine
"Pour une dent, toute la gueule"

The 1er Corps Franc de la Seine stems from a drilling of the 75e Régiment d’Infanterie de Ligne, who contained three companies with a prestigious past. We do have a unique structure in the Napoleonic Wars community, whether in the English, German or French speaking community. Like the former 75e, we kept the historical names, we create a concept many time imagined, but never applied. The 1er Corps Franc de la Seine is composed of a reserve of soldiers, fighting randomly in either of the four companies; line, skirmish, cavalry and artillery.

1erCF’s History

It’s difficult, with the lack of knowledge on that period, to date the apparition of the 1er Corps Franc de la Seine. Yet it seems 1814 is the most probable. In the Journal de L’Empire, famous political newspaper, it’s written that the 1er Corps Franc de la Seine would have completed their entire formation in February 1814. Composed of lots of civil and national guards, but also ex-soldiers, sometimes decorated, it’s the March the 2nd 1814, that the Colonel SIMON, at the head of the first detachment, goes to take his orders from its Majesty the Emperor.
March the 7th of 1814, it’s between Saucy and Maisoncelles that the 1er Corps Franc de la Seine will live his first fight. Many Cossacks enemies, surely interested by plunder, attacks a diligence carrying supplies and goods. The Colonel SIMONS, coming to help catch up with the brigands, and fought against 400 foreigners. According to the total official number, 50 horse riders enemies were killed, and several foot soldiers, with just one dead of the 1er Corps Franc de la Seine.
March the 18th 1814, at Meaux, it is said: “The Colonel SIMON, commander of the 1er Corps Franc, received from its Majesty the Emperor and King the order to search with is Corps all the country around Meaux till Sézanne [et Arci-sur-Aube]. He’s authorized to call for la Garde Nationale; to ring the tocsin and raise the cities inhabitants to defend their homes against the insultes of enemy parties.
March 27th and 28th 1814, at Clay-Souilly, le Colonel SIMON will participate to the French victory on the Prussians army of Silesia vanguard, leaded by the General Von Katzler. A part of the 1er Corps Franc de la Seine cavalry, y participates at the decisive charge that stopped the enemy advance, proving the determination of the people to protect their Nation.
Loyal servant of its Majesty the Emperor, the Colonel SIMON wrote: […] since I’ve obtain from Your Excellency the authorization to form a Corps Franc. I’m ready to march on the enemy with a first detachment of about 950 men who are just waiting your orders to go toward his destination although most of them are not armed. […] It’s with the greatest satisfaction that I have the honour to announce to Your Excellency that I count among the brave I’m leading many former soldiers and most of them are decorated. Waiting the orders of Your Excellency. Your humble and very obedient servant. SIMON. Colonel Commander of the 1er Corps Franc de Paris.”
Last line of defence of the Emperor, the 1er Corps Franc de la Seine participates to its last fight, the battle of Paris, March the 30th 1814. Certain defeat face to 130.000 men of the 6th Coalition, the battle whose still bitter for all the patriots of the Corps Francs fighting at the side of the line infantry troops, and many officer were injured or killed.

Our motto: “Pour une dent, toute la gueule.”
(For a tooth, all the mouth).

It’s the May 20th 1814 that the 1er Corps Franc de la Seine is dismissed at Laval. The Colonel SIMON, at the opposite of many officer and soldier, will never sign the new allegiance to the Royal power of the Restauration. De facto; “his signature does not appear on the long list of the very humble and obedience servant.”
They won’t be any trace of his History.

Because there wasn't second or third Corps Franc de la Seine. It's based on historical facts and solid studies of historical books.
No misunderstanding, we don't consider ourselves like the best regiment ever  ???. We just made a historic choice ;)
