6th (Warwickshire) Regiment of Foot [EU] (ON HOLD)
« on: February 13, 2016, 04:18:14 am »

We are an international regiment, which was founded on 7. February 2016. Due to a reorganisation, we decided to rename ourselfs from 1tesWIR to 6th. Before someone starts to complain about the name: We asked several "6th" regiments and either they gave us an Ok or did not respond, because they were not active for ages. Besides, we are the first 6th, if any still exist, which claimed the name on the offical regiment list.

As part of Great Britain’s alliance with the Netherlands, the latter nation had four British and an Irish regiment, which were stationed there ever since 1674. In 1685 King James II requested their service to combat the Duke of Monmouth’s Rebellion, during which the five regiments were reorganised into the 5th Regiment of Foot and the 6th Regiment of Foot. After the conflict, the 5th and 6th returned to the Netherlands, but in just 3 years, they once more returned home to British soil, this time as the guard of King William III. The 6th was actually the favoured regiment of King William, who christened them “The Dutch Guard”, and they fought for their King in Ireland at Boyne and Aughrim in 1690 and 1691 respectively. The 6th then fought in the Flanders Campaign from 1692-1695, earning their first battle honour by leading the storming of Namur.

The first major conflict that the 6th participated in was the War of Spanish Succession, fighting French-Spanish forces in Spain and Portugal, participating in the Battle of Barcelona (1706) and then fighting in the Battle of Almanza (1707) where they suffered heavy casualties. Despite this, they went on to play a big role in the Battles of Almenar and Zaragoza, where they won “undying fame”. The 6th were eventually forced to withdraw from the war after being captured at the Battle of Brihuega, then returned as part of an exchange.

The 6th Regiment of Foot next saw action in Scotland in the Jacobite Uprising - securing the Highland forts of Inverness and Fort William, and stood firm in the ill-fated Battle of Prestonpans. They defended Fort William from waves of attackers, even as every other highland forts. The regiment was later stationed in Gibraltar, then the West Indies. They fought briefly in the American War of Independence in 1776. When every British regiment was each given a local region for recruitment purposes, the 6th Regiment of Foot was given the county of Warwickshire, along with the 24th. During the French Revolutionary Wars, the 6th won their third battle honour by securing the Carribbean in 1798.

Like every British regiment, the 6th were highly involved in the Napoleonic Wars, fighting in countless engagements, starting in Spain, taking part in the Battle of Corunna and also the Walcheren Campaign. At the Heights of Echalar in August 1813 Wellington watched the regiment's attack against 6,000 French in rugged positions in the mountains and described it as "The most gallant and the finest thing he had ever witnessed". The regiment were held in reserve at the Nive and were again heavily engaged at Orthez in 1814. Once again, this so impressed the Duke that he subsequently scratched on the officers' mess silver snuff box, which since 1785 had borne the words "Seek Glory", the additional words "Huzza for the 6th Regiment Now Keep Glory". The 6th were posted in Europe to see the Battle of Waterloo, instead they fought the Americans in Canada, securing their fourth battle honour, Niagra, there after repulsing an American attack.

In 1832, Queen Victoria personally named the 6th Warwickshire Regiment of Foot a Royal Regiment, thereby changing its name to the Royal (1st) Warwickshire Regiment. After numerous minor conflicts in Africa, the Royal Warwickshire 1st Regiment was renamed simply the Royal Warwickshire, under that name they fought in the Boer Wars and World War I.

After World War I, the Royal Warwickshire Fusiliers was merged with the Northumberland Fusiliers (from the 5th Regiment of Foot), the Lancaster Fusiliers and the London Fusiliers to from the Royal Fusilier Regiment, which exists to this day.

TEAMKILLING IN EVENTS
Everybody is familiar with it: At the start and end of every big linebattle, the log is clogged with teamkilling, as soon as you spawn. Every reset many people use the opportunity to teamkill. We as a regiment completely forbid this - it is unprofessional and gives a bad impression of the regiment. When you wear 6th tags, you are representing us, so we require that you never teamkill in linebattles, be it at the beginning or end of a linebattle, or between resets.

ATTENDANCE
A regiment cannot run well when the members don’t come to events or trainings. This is why we want to see the enlisted coming to our events and why we made an attendance sheet, to log whether people are coming to events, have been excused or have failed to inform an officer of their absence. We will willing excuse you from an event, if you let us know beforehand, but failure to do so wastes time and annoys those who run events. Fail to come without an excuse thrice in a month, we’ll give you an attendance warning. Another missed event that month will result in you being kicked. Attendance is taken into account for promotions and the awarding of attendance medals, with attended events adding to your score and missed events detracting from it.

BEHAVIOUR TOWARDS OTHER REGIMENTS
This is imperative, as not only does it reflect badly on the regiment, but it can also result in you, or even the entire regiment, being kicked from a linebattle. If you insult or attack other regiments in any way, be it in global (white) or team (purple) chat, or on steam or FSE, then not only will admins and moderators punish you, but we shall deal with it severly. If there are problems with other regiments, bring your complaints to your officers, who will solve the situation. Diplomatically. For this reason, we do not allow enlisted members or NCOs to use white global chat (besides a greeting at the beginning and “gg” at the end of course). Global chat spam annoys admins, as it buries officers requrests and can cause lag. Purple team chat should be kept down, while it allows you to communicate with fellow members of the regiment without disrupting orders, don’t use it to chat casually or spam, especially if you have a working mic, for this is how regiments communicate in a linebattlle.

RESPECTFUL BEHAVIOUR WITHIN THE REGIMENT
As we want to accomplish a nice community, respect towards each other is very important for the camaraderie within a regiment. This is why we do not want to have people who insult each other and bring chaos into the line. Respectful behaviour includes speaking English, and only English, during events. I know the Dutch, Swedes, Croatians and Germans all outnumber the Brits, but English is a language that we all have in common, so during events it is required that this is the only language spoken, as to avoid confusing/ostracising people.

RESPECT OFFICERS AND ADMINS
By joining the regiment, you agree to follow the orders of your commanders, esepcially during events. Failure to do so causes distraction and confusion, makes leading much harder and is disrespectful. This also goes for not listening, orders must be heard and adhered to, lest the line be disrupted. Furthermore, it is imperative that you listen not just to our officers, but to admins. Do not complain, if you do have a complaint, bring it to us, and we’ll pass it on if necessary. The word of the admin, and the officer, is law.

Can I just say that I’m really impressed with the cav community, 10x more mature than the inf community and a lot less tolerant of the cancerous players
