5th Dragoon Guards now Recruiting!

Vestigia Nulla Restorsum - We Do Not Retreat.

The or 5th Dragoon Guards, or also known under its monogram 'V.D.G', is an Australian / Oceanic-based cavalry regiment of the line formed in 1685 historically. Ourselves, we were formed approximately 4 months ago. Historically, the regiment fought with great distinction in the Napoleonic Wars; mostly renown for their action during the Battle of Salamanca, where under the command of John Le Marchent; and later that day when he fell in battle; William Ponsonby, that regiment claimed the death and destruction of several French regiments, simply because they waited to the opportunistic moment to strike.

We have a proud tradition of defending and supporting other regiments in battle; and follow in the history of Ponsonby and Marchant by waiting for the opportunistic moment.

Because we hone as a specialist regiment, we do train regularly but our style of command and structure varies to that of other regiments. For the best insight into our regiment, we recommend you come join us for a line battle to see if you enjoy playing with us, so add VDG_Griffin , VDG_Jobus or VDG_TK2822 on Steam and find out what we are about.

Requirements:

  • You must have TeamSpeak 3
You must be able to follow orders
Must be able to adhere to our Code of Conduct
    You must have a microphone

Rank Structure

Officers & Appointments

Captain - Cpt
Lieutenant - Lt
Cornet - Ct
Regimental Quartermaster Corporal - RQC*
      NCOs

Regimental Corporal Major - RCM
Staff Corporal - SC
Corporal of Horse - CoH
Lance Corporal of Horse - LCoH
      Enlisted

Horse Guard - Hg
Trooper - Tpr

* = By appointment only.

As you can see from our ranks, we are quite different to your standard infantry regiment you might join. Almost every aspect of our regiment is different, including the speed at which we fight. Ranks, reward system, discipline system and our tactics and strategies are totally different. Because we are cavalry, the pitch and speed of battle is often much faster paced than your standard infantry regiment.

We also have some great award systems in place for those who perform well in our regiment, making ours a competitive, fun and action-packed regiment. If you are up for this, and are able to focus and fight at a much more intense pace of battle than infantry do, then being a Cavalrymen in the 5th Dragoon Guards is for you.

"We Do Not Retreat." - 5th Dragoon Guards motto.

We don't play only dragoons. We are primarily a heavy cavalry regiment. Heavy cavalry have he survivability and durability to last in a battle, but dragoons are the most versitile unit in the game and potentially the most lethal.

For any lovers of cavalry, I'd strongly suggest giving us a go.

Australian/Oceanic Line battles have a rule against it. Besides, the ingame inaccuracy punishes you too much unless you perfectly time your shot when the horse's gallop is with all hooves off the ground , and the reticle narrows by about half a centimetre, giving you better accuracy. And carbines are even worse, so GG if you want to be a UK Dragoon.

But as I said, we mostly focus on the heavies because they can survive more than just one charge, and have a better impact effect. Dragoons and Hussars are tricky to use unless you know how to use them properly. (Harass , rather than attack directly)

But I've studied a lot of material on Cavalry tactics for the 16th-19th Century. For us it's all about cooperation and timing with friendly regiments, hitting the enemy with flanking actions or using the Hammer and Anvil, as I call it. I'll try get some videos up of our actions. If you have any questions about us, just ask.

We are not a significantly large regiment just yet, but I hope over time that will change and others will see just what a dedicated cavalry regiment is truly capable of.

It's a shame you're not in the EU/NA timezone, not too many regiments/events in the Oceanic side of the world. Nevertheless, good luck!
