The 39th Regiment of Foot is a British Line Regiment, the first formation raised on 15th July 2011 (by myself).
Members of the current regiment have served in the 2012 formation of the 39th, and many served in the 1a Svea, I15, and the Åbo och Björneborgs läns kavalleriregemente.
We promote comradeship above all else and strive for a friendly and fun atmosphere.


♦History♦


The 39th (Dorsetshire) Regiment of Foot was an infantry regiment of the British Army, formed in 1719 and amalgamated into The Dorsetshire Regiment in 1881.
In 1805 a number of regiments had their territorial affiliations shuffled, with the 39th taking the Dorsetshire title previously held
by the 35th (Sussex) Regiment of Foot to become the 39th (Dorsetshire) Regiment of Foot.

The 39th were the first British Regiment to fight in India,at the battle of Plassey.
'The Dorsets',as they were called,were also called 'The Green Linnets',because of the green facings they wore.
The 39th took part in the Peninsula War,where it suffered around 30%+ casualties.
