Played through it with Empire and am now playing as Orcs.

Quite enjoying it and the game does well to avoid the repetition that usually results in me abandoning Total war campaigns.

Playing as Empire I found myself often infantry boxing my ranged units such as cannons and mortars and having a row of crossbowmen/handgunners inside the box as well. Had to do this more often than not due to fast enemy cav/hounds or four legged attack units. Progress with Empire for me was slow and cautious but managed to win the short campaign victory.

Playing as Orcs I am having fun horde rushing where base management is kept to a minimal set of buildings and raiding/sacking is the way to go. If your army gets into a lot of battles there's a chance you get an allied army that spawns (called a Warrrgh) and you can give it indirect orders as you would telling an ally to take a particular objective. Difference is that any towns the Waargh takes become yours. This is great when you want to keep your main army at a strategic area fighting and want someone else to clean up behind the rear. The badlands are also very mountainous so I love the 'use the ways' stance where you use the tunnel networks to move under the mountains. There is a chance that an enemy army can intercept you though if you move nearby and if they defeat you it in the ways it destroys the army. Now I have one army sacking while the follow up army occupies the territory in the following turn.

I played briefly as the vampire counts and Chaos. Chaos is basically a nomad faction where the objective is to burn everything though you get the option of awakening the Norska tribes as allies if you defeat one of their settlements. The Vampire counts are interesting, units don't have morale so they won't route but instead of morale they have a binding indicator. If their binding weakens they take damage. I am not 100% sure but I think if the general dies the entire army also dies with him. Currency is dark magic for vampire counts. Also Vampire faction is the only one that can recruit within the same turn (ie: like recruiting mercs in previous total war games instead of waiting 1 turn to build).

Haven't tried Dwarves yet. Not sure how much they differ as a faction. They tend to be extremely armored and hold out well against orcs I've noticed. My first buffs that I go for tend to be those that increase melee for the army.

No worries. I might give it a spin.

Might give it a try. Quite liked the trailer. Nice use of slow mo at start and Edith Piaf's je ne regrette rien, even if the song was from the 50's.
Reminds me of Inception as they used the track as well along with slow mo scenes etc iirc.

Never got to play Day of defeat source (would have but RO2 came along). Are there still servers up for it?

So finally played episode 6. The ending was most.... unsatisfying. lol.

Spoiler
I planned an ambushed as Asher but the fatty bad guy got away with an axe in his back. Least Gryff got what he had coming but I kind of knew Gwyn would be a problem at some point. The majority of the family is dead.  The whole North Grove thing ended on an unfinished note as did the siege. Guess they are planning for season 2. It certainly kept my interest along the way but some of my favorite characters are now dead :(

There is no constricting definition of alpha. Typically alphas are the first phase of testing which most companies do internally with some exceptions. However there is no such thing as a real alpha definition afaik.

Its unlikely until after said alpha is released im afraid. The current focus for fse is to try and deliver said alpha within December and likely they will want to take whatever time they can to polish or at least bug fix any new incoming issues. Once the alpha starts there will be more opportunities to take footage of x players playing for trailers etc.

So you make this thread and then you go into oblivion for another year.

Nice.

It is almost like you and Taleworlds are competing to see which company can be the most laziest, piss poor PR est company between you!

Have you completely forgotten that they are a small team? Big studios, with hundreds of workers, can easily pump out games every year, but unlike them, FSE and TaleWorlds both have small studios, which means the games will take longer to develop. And are you going to completely dismiss the fact that there are still 9 more days in December?

You dont need to be like DICE or EA to have good PR. They gave us 5 screenshots in 3 years. And then they said "Hey look we almost have an alpha!! You need to give us just 150 dollars to see it!" That's the worst PR campaign that I've ever seen.
There is no pr campaign and there won't be one for a while, at least not until sometime after alpha.

A Turkish prosecutor has asked for the arrest of senior commanders in a case involving Syria-bound trucks sent by Turkey’s National Intelligence Agency (MİT) and as part of an investigation into the alleged creation of a fake terrorist group called Selam Tevhid, in which U.S.-based Islamic scholar Fethullah Gülen is a suspect along with 121 others.

Istanbul Deputy Chief Prosecutor İrfan Fidan interrogated Ankara Gendarmerie Regional Commander Maj. Gen. İbrahim Aydın, Brig. Gen. Hamza Celepoğlu and Ret. Col. Burhanettin Cihangiroğlu on Nov. 28 and sent them to court appealing for their arrest on Nov. 29.

The subject of the MİT’s purported arms deliveries to Syria has been high on the country’s agenda in the wake of Turkey’s downing of a Russian jet on Nov. 24, and the arrest of two prominent journalists, daily Cumhuriyet Editor-in-Chief Can Dündar and Ankara Bureau Chief Erdem Gül, on Nov. 26 on charges of collecting and revealing secret documents for espionage and supporting (though not being a member of) an armed terrorist organization. The accusations against Dündar and Gül were based on reports in Cumhuriyet regarding the Syria-bound MİT trucks.

“By stopping MİT trucks and checking what was inside, they announced it to the world through espionage. What did they say then? They said, ‘These [trucks] are providing weapons for a terrorist organization.’ They exposed the humanitarian assistance which was sent to Bayırbucak Turkmens in this way. They exposed what was sent to the Free Syrian Army [FSA] in this way,” President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said on Nov. 28.

In January 2014, trucks belonging to the MİT were stopped by a prosecutor who sought to have the gendarmerie search the vehicles in the southern province of Adana before they crossed into Syria. Claiming that the trucks were carrying “humanitarian aid to Turkmens” in the war-torn country, the Turkish government accused followers of Gülen in the judiciary and security institutions of illegally ordering the search.

In February 2014, a ban was imposed on the publication of reports about the search, and in April 2015 a Turkish court arrested 17 active soldiers who stopped the trucks.

There has long been speculation that the aid was actually being sent to jihadists in Syria.

The strange thing is; if you look at google maps the crash site where the Turks claim it is then its  like at least 15 - 16km away from the exit point of Turkish airspace they flew through.  On google maps right click and then select measure distance.

Damn it your probably right Tiki.

Only thing we seem to be learning is that everyone and everything is wrong. D:

Without the exact crash site distance from the point of entry and the time of crash vs time of entry seems we won't know.

Anyway this is the Russian voe:

Can this help?

Fantastic find thankyou!

I guess that it sums it up.

And what do we learn out of this? Everyone here was wrong, including me. We all are simply not experienced enough in this matters to discuss this in a reputable way.

I see your point. Maybe the length is just the distance covered and the depth the furthest distance penetrated north of the southern tip. Or the height during penetration.

Assuming the Turkish government didn't just bs altogether in their letter:

It could have penetrated the airspace at 2.188708km depth and then climbed to 6km. in which case speed would be lower without afterburners. The plane itself was shot down at 6km height. It could have reached that height at any point in the journey after penetration.

Alternatively if measure the distance of 2.18km (1.36miles) from right to left on the southern tip and then check the highest point Y coordinate that it reached to the lowest point Y coordinate of the southern tip then it comes to roughly 1.85km (1.15 miles). So the plane penetrated Turkish airspace to a depth from South to North of about 1.85km.

As for speed. 600km is not slow it just depends on what your doing. If your constantly changing altitude or checking for ground targets, climbing in altitude etc...

Also, what I said is that the plane was either ascending or descending. Maybe it was at 6km and it went up to 8. Or it went down to 3km to engage or start the landing process. I don't know. This results are done with the data that you gave us, and I simply calculated with that. I did not check it with other sources on the internet, I have no idea if this is true or not.

But from what you gave us, it makes sense. The Plane was flying at rather low altitudes and speed, ready to engage
Yes it's definitely a possibility. It makes more sense than having a plane flying at 300 or 400km/h. But that remains rather unlikely, considering the context (Turkish warnings), the risks of AA weapons, also considering that you are losing altitude and you should have an increased speed (since the word used is depth we can dismiss the possibility that the su 24 was getting up). All of this remains completely odd and very hard to believe. Plus talking about "depth" for this is still strange, but they are Turks, so...

Well you said yourself the alt of manpads is 4km so 6 should be fine. There's no real need to fly at supersonic speeds. 600 - 700km/h will be enough at a height of 6km to make leading extremely difficult for any small arms of which most only have a range of 2km. If DCS is worth 2 cents as an indicator then its not an unusual speed to go by (600km/h - 700) especially if checking for ground targets. Maintaining supersonic speeds in high air density is extremely resource inefficient given the air friction working against you and the amount of engine thrust you have to maintain to hold the speed. Hence the wings can fold back for the SU-24 to offer less air resistance.

The 300 - 400km/h would indeed be unusually slow but then I am using what the press said in regards to distance and time and I am pretty sure the press is getting it wrong. Olaf's interpretation makes much more sense and uses both measurements.
