Bringing the EU community towards eachother - an idea
« on: January 03, 2017, 12:10:55 am »
The topic title was pure clickbait. YOU HAVE BEEN FOOLED.

Just kidding.

I am working on an idea: a grand EU event. A large linebattle. "Very original idea indeed, Riddlez, but have we not hundreds of this? Indeed we have. I just want to add a little.... touch... to mine. It is still an idea WIP but here are the key features:

- A set number of troop types per country (e.g. 30 cav, 70 line, etc
- A selected mixture of smaller and larger (and more established) regiments
- Pre-determined maps, regiments and troop numbers.
- the use of Generals to lead the whole
- a selection of interesting rules which will be few in number but will add to the total experience of it.

This will create:
- Longer rounds, but which do not drag on
- more immersive, realistic battles.

Requirements:
- 2 servers (1 max size, one roughly 20-50 people)
- a selection of admins
- one large ts server
- 2 generals
- time to prepare the event
- helping hands to help me organise
- the EU community
- advertising

What am I asking from you at this moment?
Look, I need servers. 2 of them. I am very well capable and willing to rent a server a couple of months, but why spend money when there are large servers out there?
If you are a regiment leader, server host, or someone random who wants to lend me (us)  tjeir server, please contact me.
This goes for both in-game and TS server. 1 ts server to accomodate 220 people and an ingame one for 200, and another ingame server for at least 50 people.

Conact me on steam or PM me here if you want to comtribute in any way (I will not take applications for Generals)

At your service,
Riddlez

Thank you for your... constructive criticism.

It can be done though. The servers are there already, It's just the point of someone being willing enough to lend it to us.

I would rather cut my nutsack off and feed it to my dogs than have some twat on a horse tell me how to troll play a linebattle. These things have been done before back in the days of army's and coalitions between regiments. Hell even the 18e at one point did this setup when we brought 80-100 people a day.

You just wont get any sane regiments to show up.

Although if you do go forward I can provide both 2 french in-game servers and a teamspeak. Used in tournaments etc. and the teamspeak is from Mine and Midnight's hosting service.
Knightmare is from Albania, no?
Sorry, I can't accept this team.

First of all: THank you for offering, it is a great help.
As for your... reservations... regarding the set-up. I am aware this is a great risk. I have been to one or two of these LBs myself and one was absolute shit, the other was pretty fun.
It just depends on who the host chooses as a general. Since I am the one organising, I'd be the one to make the final call, obviously.
The reason you mention is why I will be hand-picking the generals, and not appoint them through open applications. I want people I know are mature.

Hope this helps.

Still presents the problem of that people do not really want to be lead by a general. Most people go to N&S for things like that

Then they're not required to sign up their regiment. Can't please everyone.

Sounds like a great idea but I agree with Price on his views. Best of luck with the Idea, maybe if I'm not sleeping I could help lmao
