Admins Statement:
- Updated -
Good evening everyone.
Today i temporarily banned a member of one of the participating regiments before the very first round even started.
This measure has led to some protest by their leading officer. I would like to adress that case and explain why i did what i have done and why I had to do it that way!
Dear protesting regiment leader,
before the very first round, while regiments followed the admins advice to assemble their teams, your member already ramboed around killing an almost entire line of allies while they assembled their formation. Therefore your member was slayed by me. Afterwards i told him via Admin-message that "If he wants to troll his team, he can go elsewhere". After that your own regiments members spammed the chat with "ban him", "pls ban B**c etc etc.! So i set a temp ban on him and im gonna tell you why i did that.
His behavior was a typical act of "trolling", no matter if the event was live or not! Its one thing if Reg-members kill their own guys before the event goes live and totally another thing if someone attacks other friendly Regs while they do their usual muster before the event. When other regiment members start to call for a ban, i wont wait until someone confirms his identity (or not) before i decide what to do. If he was a troll, he could easily disconnect, change his name, join again and keep ruining the event for others. So i had to take action immediatly.
Im sure this is what you want if it was your event or your regiment which gets trolled.
So if he was actually a troll, I may saved the event by temp banning him.
If he wasnt a troll...well, than its simply your own fault....because:
As the leading officer you got to brief your men about the codes of behavior, the rules, proper manners and how to act in public as a regiment which participates in an event. As an Event-Holder and Admin who wants to provide an event without trolling and other disturbances, I must count on every single officer to have a good grip on their men. If Officers fail to teach discipline and proper behavior, i wont do it on his behalf...im gonna take measures against the results instead if they are going to ruin my event!
There is no tolerance for troll-behavior and abusement of rules and you should know that. There might be events around who tolerate it...we dont do.
You asked why admins follow the call of some rankers who wanted me to ban that guy.
First, we didnt follow their call, we just took notice of it.
Those members who called for a ban were'nt the primary reason for us to take measures, but they were acting in a way which supported the suspicion of that one guy might being a troll who isnt an actual Reg-member. In that situation i took actions before i might lose my grip on that guy and miss my chance to save the event from being trolled/busted.
It is not just very un-common but totally unusual that members call the admin to ban one of their own guys unless they dont recognize him to be one of theirs but using their Clan/Regiment-Tag. Therefore he instantly is under suspicion to be a troll who wants to ruin an event or the reputation of a single regiment by abusing their Tag. We actually take such things very serious and especially after we made experiences with that kind of trolls, we're not just having a sharp eye on it, we also take measures very fast if someone makes himself a Troll-suspect by simply showing such behavior!
I also dont need to request your permission to take measures as an admin and i dont need to explain myself during the event. Especially not in case of troll-behavior.
While we dont have debates during the event in general, i made an offer to adress that case afterwards on TS.
We just can make this easy. Just take responsibility and brief your men about rules and behavior just like other officers do. As you may noticed, there a lots of regiments visiting our events who behave in a proper way. If you could just handle it that way, there wont be problems like that we had today.
Have a nice evening
