Arty makes linebattles a camp fest most of the time. I really hope there will be no cannons present doing WAT battles, it kinda ruins the 18th century sprit of slowing marching towards enemies in line.
Thats NW and during last weekend event we attend there was 3 cannons on each side, didnt hear anyone talk about that
The point i tired to make was that arty can take out almost a whole regiment in one shot, witch no fun. It ends up dominating the linebattle and forces line infantry too camp behind hill and drags out battles, arty is only fun for people playing arty.
It is true that arti is OP in this game, it has two very strong abilities, for one it has a lot of power which means that it can take out multiple people with one cannon ball and second to that it can be dead accurate across map. However it proofs difficult for most regiment commanders to keep in mind where the enemy guns are positioned
at all times and can therefor be very lethal once formed up and in position.
In my opinion, as much as it is often annoying and making the battle stagnate it also gives an certain edge to it. I mean yes, if regiments dare not the move it will be a very slow battle. But this can easily be avoided to limit their field of view and to make it so that it can focus on one sector of the battle, instead of the entire battlefield. So with other words, it depends on the map how effective the cannons can be.
So we know that for this particular event there will be no cannons. However I hope that if this event proofs to be liked by the community and the event will be set on a weekly base, that the map makers, for example Runk, will take this in consideration. So that we can have that
edge of the deadly artillery, but in a more of
balanced state. I would hate to see that there won't be any use for arti in these events. Because they have a very big effect on regiment movements and defensive purposes. But that is my personal opinion
