I don't think this is strictly true, yes some trolls might buy CD-Keys, but there will most likely be more people who will buy the game because they actually want to join a regiment or just play the game, not troll.

I don't think people buy the game because they want to join a regiment most people don't know what they are. If people did want to join regiments then they would be searching for them on the forums and no one would have to recruit people on servers.

Plenty of people never go anywhere near Native or the Public servers before buying the game and applying to a regiemnt, trust me on this as me and Aztir have to train them...

This is especially true during Sale periods.

I wasn't into multiplayer Warband until I saw Mount And Musket on Mod DB and watched some videos on YouTube. I expect a lot of people don't get around to playing vanilla Warband. They go straight to the single player stuff.
