"Tow, row, row..." simply mimics the drums.

Can't resist the urge to post two of my favorite Finnish ones, which are quite known here. (even if this topic has seen its best days) I will also post some history related to them.

Suomalaisen ratsuväen marssi 30-vuotisessa sodassa / Finska Rytteriets Marsch i trettioåriga kriget / Marsch der Finnländischen Reiterei im 30-jährigen Kriege

- March of Finnish Cavalry in the 30-years war. This song was used during the mentioned war by the so called Finnish "hakkapeliittas". Later the march was forgotten for some years.

Later in the 19th century it was arranged and modified by Military Conductor Lauri Hämäläinen and it was then again used as honorary march. Lyrics were made in 1872 by Zacharias Topelius. By the early 1900's it had become known in the German, Finnish and Swedish armies.

Nowadays it is used by Finnish Defence Forces Headquarters, Army Academy (Finland), Norrbottens Regemente (Sweden) and played by some German military bands occasionally.

Muistoja pohjolasta / Minnen från Norden

- Perhaps the most used parade march in Finland. It was composed by Jaeger Sam Sihvo in 1915 while he was receiving military training in Hohenlockstedt. The existing lyrics for the march are about remembering the homeland while fighting abroad. Swedish Armed Forces also use this march.
