Are there any ancient Roman and Greek themed anime that you are aware of? I know about Thermae Romae and its live action movie, but are there any action series that qualify?
Arion, Olympus Guardian are the only ones I have heard of, but I don't think they are good shows

There don't appear to be any widely popular series, other than possibly Thermae Romae, which I've mentioned. I don't think that one is too known anywhere other than Japan, however. It's too bad, as Greco-Roman themes could be good for anime.

Sadly, good (and popular) anime series based on European history are very rare, I guess it's because creators aren't interested much in European history. If they just take a piece of European history, adapt it a little and make a product, success is almost guaranteed. Rose of Versailles is good example of that, even though it's partly altered and sometimes looks like a TV soap, it has got unique charm and I find it amusing to watch.
Hopefully studios will see such opportunity, but so far we can avoid all new crappy series which have plain story, lame jokes and generic characters. Though, one of currently running series, Youjo senki, which is partly altered European history of WW1 (magic is partly involved, but doesn't ruin the show) and so far it's not bad, hopefully it won't get ruined.

First episode for season 2 of AoT was pretty good.

Also full metal alchemist brotherhood is ok. Pretty overrated imo

But why though, FMAB has such good character development and plot.

if you say so. I had to force myself to watch the first half of the series. I thought it was pretty lackluster for being considered one of the greatest anime of all time. I would still give it like an 8/10 but I was let down

Imo shows are so much better when you go in knowing very little about them and have no expectations

Btw my ratings have no basis and are pretty much completely random. Like if I finish a series it's almost guaranteed a 7 or 8
