ill admit one thing and im, not saying this to suck up

i played yesturday or the day before,  and with the new patch

it feels like a way faster smoother version of what it was

it would be nice to get more people back now,  but even i feel that there needs to be a bit more RP element than just shoot kill be blown up

thats what has always made mount blade stand out for other shoot em up games

but sadly theres nothing, even if u want music u need to stand still to play gramaphone
whistle can barely be heard and only lasts a second
and theres no` on me`  or `i surrender`  kind of animation

PS one of the maps is fun, you all as british spawn on a stranded boat just off the coast

there are cannons on it

but beware because theres dozens of zulus over the hill who have heard the british are there, and are heading your way

can you repell the damage? or will you sink a watery fate...
just one of the exciting things on my new maps

ps... maps are glitched free so zulus wont walk into the water and drown )

Hi just to let you know im setting up a server later tonight, by midday tomorrow at latest, on azw a permanent dedicated one, as the problem is there just arent any permanent servers..

I have already about ten friends who are big fans of the mod, and will be on it, i know there are dozens more of you who love the mod, but just dont play it because there isnt a permanent active server, well dont worry it will be up

It will be named simply zulu server, and there are new exciting fun maps and stuff.

In case you have uninstalled the mod the last version of it was

http://www.moddb.com/mods/victorias-colonial-wars/downloads/anglo-zulu-war-v004

update got it running yesturday got about 8 people on, not bad for a first time server with little notice to people
most people have AZW uninstalled, and its a big ask for somebody to randomly take time out of their day to download and install a 800mb file, however i am sure more people will be redownloading it and joining us  as time goes by

Here's the big secret, I also want the surrender animation in the mod. Shocker, right? We've been trying to find time to get it in but it kept getting pushed to the side due to us working on more important features that we're hoping will keep the mod alive longer. It has nothing to do with laziness, but we both already know that, as we wouldn't have released a patch with a bunch of new content if it did. If you just stated your opinion on the lack of the surrender animation in a rational manner, I would've been glad to listen and perhaps put more priority on it.

I`m sorry its just so frustrating and i think the lack of role play features like surrender or the fact that when you play gramaphone you cant move, just make the game feel much more scripted and less open world
one of the reasons why many people stayed on for zulu mod even almost a year after most of the player base went, is because it had that role playing open world element,
iron europe is just kill, be killed and thats it
you cant really do firing squads or surrender or play music or anything in it, even the whistle which is supposed to rally the troops is just a low pitched beep that you can barely hear which lasts 2 seconds, its just really hard to troop train and stuff like this.

and yes, it really does not take more than 5 minutes to put surrender in

im asuming and this is without looking at the source code, that anim_surrender was left out, well its simple, you just put it back in, and whatever key you replaced it with, select the script.. delete and put in the original script from nw, job done.
ps if its a case of the p is used for something like fix bayonet then fine, remove fix bayonet no big deal

The fact that the mod has been dead for a month now, and only now a patch has come out, doesnt help

Also, ive been ridiculed.. called a troll and all sorts of names simply because i questioned why the surrender animation wasnt included despite it being the first suggestion.

Ive been given every insult under the sun because i dared question it, when in fact there is no actual explanation, its laziness.

re-using the surrender is as easy as pie, anyone with basic modding skills, which i assume the IE team have, can put it in within seconds

the surrender animation adds a big depth to the game, and makes it fun to play with friends rather than just kill like any old shoot em up game,  and it seems that the IE team do not give a rats ass about what we the players want

You are such a pathetic person it's actually quite impressive. Your first day on this forum has been mostly spent to cry about the lack of the almighty surrender animation and insult the team. Let me remind you that this mod is the product of a team giving up thousands of hours of free time to create a mod solely for the enjoyment of the community. I seriously find it hard to believe that you even dare to call the team lazy and inconsiderate. You don't have a single clue how modding works, don't pretend to know how much skill and how much time it takes to add something in. The main point is that there are far more important things for the team to be working on. The fact that you're crying so hard over such an unimportant feature that adds practically nothing to the mod is mind boggling. It pisses me off even more that you call yourself a supporter of the mod in the past and yet let your image of the entire mod be tarnished by the lack of a single animation. Grow up, or just see how far that sort of pettiness will get you in life.

Im pathetic? hey your one of the devs who worked for two years on a mod that was dead within two weeks

And yes including surrender is THAT easy.

I am a modder myself, and when you mod NW, the surrender animation is included,  so it is harder to NOT have it in than to have it in, as to not have it in you are physically removing or replacing it.

To put it back in is simply a case of copy paste the script back in and re-adding the anim_surrender, it IS that simple.
Any rookie to modding can do that within minutes.

I really dont want this to be lost amongst 1000 random useless suggestions in the official thread. I just want to say its a big shame that the surrender animation/chant was left out of the mod. It is hardly a big thing to do, to have kept it in. and if it is a case of needing a free key, well i would give up the fix bayonet or somethign like that for the surrender animation anyday.

It just kills off most of the light hearted fun and role play that you can have on nw servers, and it is such a shame.
I know people will say oh well its not supposed to be like nw, but thats not the point.
Not everybody just wants to go on a server to kill and shoot, many people like to come on with their friends, roleplay and things like that. That is what made NW so popular, as appose to warband where it just is really about killing.

Really hope the devs will put back in the surrender animation on the next patch. I know i am not the only one saying this, but it really does take away a lot of fun.

Posting this here for the records...

Adding an alternative "surrender" animation would be an idea.

well it seems 6 weeks on, the mod absolutly dead, they bring out a patch and guess what they lazily do not bother to add what was the very first suggestion

now i have zero sympathy for the IE team, and will not play or support the game anymore, there is no excuse for such laziness

seriously no surrender animation added?

the very first request on the sugestion thread was a surrender animation

it was no big deal, because the mod automaticaly came with it, it was taken out to replace the p button with something else

very dissapointed and no i`m not redownloading the patch and playing it,

i was one of those that still promoted it and tried playing it when so many people had left, but for you guys to leave out something as simple as a surrender animation, there is no excuse. thanks for killing the role playing aspect of them game.

NW is coming up to the 2nd year since release a few months time, Warband is several years old. Players eventually move onto different games, some players have really high expectations when it comes to this community and mods and get burned out quickly if they aren't met.

Plus this community mostly thrieves on some forts of mass organised events one of the current weaknesses right now for Iron Europe.

NW really needs more regular price cuts with the DLC on STEAM or the price to be decreased by half. I expect when the patch that sorts out latency issues comes out numbers will increase enough to give Iron Europe a small but solid and stable community.

Yeh i buy my games stand alone off gamersgate and ive only seen two sales on napoleanic war since the summer,
they have sales almost every weekend, and over christmas they had sales on almost every single game except nw, why i do not know.

I also know a ton of people who play warband but dont play nw, why i dont know but they think its too hard to get or too expensive, which asks the question how the heck did they get warband then..  sigh i will never understand this world

I know that mods always have a shelf life, but there was so much buzz and anticipation for almost two years for this
two or three times the release date was put off,  there was so much hype

Barring the lag, it wasnt even that bad a mod, i just cant understand how with so much hype and enthusiasm, a player base could go from huge to meh, to non existen almost within a matter of weeks, and it literally is a matter of weeks, because two weeks from launch, i was struggling to see a server with over 30 players on it.

Very sad, and i think the devs know that bringing out a patch with improvements, isnt going to magically bring everybody back.

I personally think its human nature, people are like sheep, when one person goes everybody just goes.

Sigh, its like anglo zulu i mean that mod in itself was like its own game, it was so addictive, why the hell people just leave is beyond me, it was anything but boring.

I think the mount blade player base have the attention span of a goldfish, that is the only logical explanation
