                        4e Grenadiers

                   Introduction

Regiment history:
The 4e has been founded around 1 year ago, we first were a small regiment with a few members. But after a while we decided that we should make a clean-start, so we renamed our regiment to the 4e grenadiers. ( The other regiment was called the 2nd Nottinghamshire, it was found 1 year ago ). We're nowadays a medium-sized regiment with quite some bad-moments, and ofcourse the good ones.

About the 4e Grenadiers:
The 4e Grenadiers is a really active regiment, with around 20 people at events, and always 10+ people in teamspeak ready to game with their teammates! We've around 6 events a week, and often play together. The 4e Grenadiers is a regiment where you don't have to rank up before being knowed, we welcome everyone, and recruits will be accepted in the group from the very beginining. We also have a complex administration, and ranks play a big part in the 4e Grenadiers, however you don't get rank-spammed, you'll need to earn it during the time you spent in our regiment, which is quite much in the current system. The 4e Grenadiers is mainly based on melee, we'll often stand at the frontline delevering the enemy a devastating volley, and then go into a glorious-charge!

                          History

At september 1806, a new regiment has been created and called ''Fusilliers de la Garde Impériale ''. In the structure of the Imperial Garde, this regiment would come just after the ''Old-Guard'' and it has been called the ''Middle-Guard'' and becomes a part of the Imperial Garde. In 1806, the French empire was 2 years old. And its master ( Napoleon Bonaparte ) wants to reform his precious Imperial Garde. Through a lot of new rules, Napoleon decided to create a new - regiment of infantry. His idea is to have another Garde regiment, younger then the old guard, so he could deploy them more often on the battlefield, but with the same mind of sacrifice and pugnacity. Napoleon decided to open the Imperial Garde to conscription, like normal line infantry. Those new recruits would be under command & training of the best officers of the Great Army. This new system would give him one of the best regiments of the Great Army for the next 10 years.

The 4e Grenadiers has been created in 1815, with the same system. This regiment included Veteran's from the French Campaign of 1814, conscripts and volunteers who want to help their emperor in the war against Monarchy's who declared war against France in 1815. The whole Imperial Garde fought at Waterloo, including the 4e Grenadiers. And under the eyes of the Emperor they charged Wellington's Centre in the last chance to beat the Coalition's Army in Belgium.

At 7:00 PM, June the 18th. Napoleon ordered the Imperial Garde to charge up to Wellington's Centre. If this charge would succeed, Wellington would command the retreat of his own army. At 7:30 PM, the Imperial Garde got engaged by British Lines for a final fight! 9 Battallions of the Imperial Garde are charging Wellington's Lines, including the 4e Grenadiers. 5 battallions were in front, and 4 battallions 500 meter behind, the Brave 4e Grenadiers were in the 1st line, on the right flank. Wellington's Artillery shot them during the charge, and the British infantry ambushed them. But they kept on charging and fought against the enemy which was outnumbering them by 10 times. The Charge of the first line had failed, and the morale broke, and the French army retreated. The whole army was falling back, Waterloo was lost! The 2nd line of the Garde, composed by survivers of the 1st Line ( Including 4e ) formed squares and defended the French troops while falling back.

“History is written by the winners.” - Napoleon Bonaparte

The 4e Grenadiers is quite much always seeking for new soldiers who are willing to fight for the emperor! Once you've joined, you can come to our events. And try to be as active as you can.

1.1 Being a Cadet

Being a cadet in the 4e Grenadiers,
means that you're ready to be one of the best Grenadier in Napoleon's Army!
As a cadet, you're not officially a 4e Grenadiers soldier yet,
however you're closer at it, then anyone else.
You'll have to prove yourself, fight your way to glory and participate events!

2. Ranker's Handbook
As we all know, the soldiers in a regiment, is the most important base. So the 4e Grenadiers strives to have the finest soldiers in the Empire. Please read this handbook, and make sure you'll become a fine soldier!

2.1 Formations

In the 4e Grenadiers, we strive to be as quick and precise with our formations. So we want our soldiers to know them as best as possible. Here are some basics;

Collum Formation
The collum formation, is a line directly behind the commanding officer. In a collum formation the 4e Grenadiers prepares to move out. So be quick while forming the collum! Make sure that the best melee fighters are in the front or back. And that the special ranks are at their place aswell.

Line left/right
A line means that we're ready for action. A line formation is a line directly next to the commanding officer. However if this formation takes to long, we'll most likely get shot before we can shoot. So make sure you plan the position where you'll stand before you go somewhere.

Aggresive Reform
An aggresive reform, is a formation the 4e Grenadiers uses when it has to line up quick, because an enemy regiment is approaching. In an aggresive reform you go left and right from the commanding officer, and you present your musket immediatly.

2.2 Shooting

Shooting is important, always. So we expect every soldier to perform good. Here is some information;

Shooting Orders
Present - You present your musket ( hold your mouse button ).
Take Aim - Pick your target, and aim at the position your commander tells you to.
Fire - The best command in this scenario. You can release your mouse button, and blow some steel in the enemy.

Aiming
You aim whilst you're reloading. Your cursor will become a little dot, and with that you'll aim. Your commander will ( almost ) always tell you where to aim.

2.3 Charges&Melee

In the 4e Grenadiers melee is more important than anything else. Here are some tips, orders and musters.

Charging
Whilst while a collum, we're already preparing for this moment. The best infront & in the back. When the commander commits the charge order, the front and back will go far left / right and flank the enemy. To later surround them and close them in. In this way melee is alot more effective.

Using your bayonet
If you're not as good as a real grenadier in melee, then make sure you block on time! Don't go in with an attack. Because you'll be vulnerable to enemy steel! Trusting your teammates is the key.

3. Officer Handbook
Officers are the finest soldiers who have to keep everything rolling in the 4e Grenadiers. To become an officer you've to be an ''old-member'' and we expect you to try your best.

3.1 Commanding

The 4e Grenadiers strives to be one of the best, and officers are of most importance in that. Commanding is 1 of the 3 things you should be good in

Leading
Leading speaks for itself. You command the infantry, make sure you speak loud. And (try) to always stay calm. The soldiers trust on you! Know all formations / commands, get a nice microphone, earn respect from the men! And command the 4e Grenadiers to victory!

Drilling
When you're a NCO or Officer, you should always drill the men. Repeat commands, and make sure they're being followed! If one of the soldiers won't follow them, warn them. If they'll do it again, then report it to an officer on steam! This is an important job.

3.2 Administration

The administration is very important for the Regimental Managment, without it.. The regiment will be a big mess, and we won't have a good rank-system like we've now.

Event-Administration
After an event, an officer will ask / do the administration. This basicly mean that you'll add a point at someone's score, such as participated linebattles or trainings. Don't do this to hastily, make as less mistakes as possible!

Members
Always try the recruit, always. Every regiment needs new members. So does the 4e Grenadiers. When someone is interested, help him out with his application.

3.3 Behaviour

An officer is an example for alot of members, so if you behave bad. Everyone will.

Teamspeak3
Always stay calm, and spend time on your fellow members! They're humans aswell. Play games with members, stay friends with them. If there's an argument, always look if you can help. And ofcourse, don't break rules yourself.

4. Ranks
Ranks are of great importance in a regiment. Here's some explanation of ranks in the 4e Grenadiers

4.1 Enlisted

The enlisted men are the base of the 4e Grenadiers. They're its soldiers, who're willing to fight & die for the emperor!

Caporal - As a Caporal you show your commanding skills in battle, and report misbehaving soldiers to the commander.

Garde - An Garde is a veteran member of the 4e Grenadiers, which is helping out Corporal's and Corporal's Fouriers whenever he can. A Garde is the proudness of the enlisted, and often will have chances to prove himself in commanding / drilling skills. A garde should always be active.
Soldat aux Première Classe - The Soldat aux Première Classe is also an veteran member. He got melee & shooting skills, and is willing to learn other soldiers how to perform as good as himself. As an SoP we expect you to maintain your skills, and treat other soldiers well.
Soldat aux Dexième Classe - The Soldat aux Deuxième Classe is a rank which indicates that you're serving the 4e Grenadiers for some weeks already, and that you're an active and skillfull member. From Soldat to SoD will probalry take the longest of all Enlisted ranks.
Soldat - A soldat is the standard rank for excellent Grenadiers. The 4e Grenadiers provided you with experience from linebattles & trainings, and we think you're ready to be a real member.
Cadet - A cadet is equal to recruit. As a cadet we expect you to come to trainings and other events. To gain experience, in the 4e Grenadiers you rank up to Soldat quite fast!

4.2 Non-Commised Officers

Non Commised Officers are the guys who are on their way to become a real officers. Ofcourse you've to be active for those ranks. And you will need a microphone. And recruit quite often.

Regimental Sergent-Major - A Regimental Sergent Major will mostly drill the regiment, including officers. As a RSM you're making your way up to a real officer, and you'll have to drill the regiment, and command it often.
Colour Sergent-Major - A Colour Sergent-Major will always carry our colour with pride ( if the commanding officer allows him to ). He has ( again ) the same obligations as the other Sergents.
Sergent-Major - A Sergent-Major has the same obligations as the other Sergent, but the Sergent-Major should keep an eye on the other Sergent.. Such as; doing their job good, are they recruiting, what do they think about the regiment. Etc.
Staff Sergent - A Staff Sergent should also make the people feel welcome in the regiment. A staff sergent needs to command, drill & do administration ( including recruiting ! ).
Sergent - A Sergent is the standard Non-Commised Officer rank, you need to feel people home in the regiment, drill the soldiers. And always be prepared to take over the command from the commanding officer!

Caporal Fourier - A Caporal Fourier is basicly a trial-officer, you've to prove yourself in commanding & drilling. We also expect you to provide us from Recruits. A caporal fourier should always have a microphone.

4.3 Officers

Officers are the highest people of the regiment, they handle the managment of the Regiment.

Colonel - The Colonel is the supreme commander, he handles all managment. And has the responsibility over the men.
Major - A Major in the second in command, and he has the same rights, oblivigations & privileges as the Colonel. A major can't harm the Colonel.
Chef de Batallion - A Chef de Batallion is the leader of a batallion, he'll have the responsibility of this Battallion, and he needs to manage alot himself.
Capitaine - A Capitaine is the highest officer rank you can get in the 4e Grenadiers. A Capitaine needs to recruit, will have alot of responsibility when there isn't another officer. And he'll command often!
Lieutenant - A lieutenant has to drill and recruit for the regiment. We also expect him to command when needed. And ofcourse, let the soldiers behave.
Sous Lieutenant - A Sous-Lieutenant supports the Lieutenant with everything he does. A Sous-Lieutenant has to prove himself, to become a Lieutenant himself

Cadet Officer - A Cadet Officer is a brand new officer, and has to prove his skills to the 4e Grenadiers' Senior officers. He has to do alot of tasks, and he'll be given the opportunity to command alot.

Adjudant Chef - An Adjudant Chef will make sure the Adjudants do their job right, and he'll help them out of anything goes wrong. He also takes over some of their jobs if needed.
Adjudant - An Adjudant is resposible for the administration and relationships with other regiments. In the 4e Grenadiers we expect him to be a nice guy which is also willing to recruit.
