I'm surprised no one has done Polish-Lithuanian Winged Hussars yet . . .

Isn't it just a myth that they ever carried those things in battle?

I read that Tatars loved them, because you could so easily pull the winged hussar off his horse, by his wings.

They would fly away. hehe  :-*

I think they did, it would have a psychological effect on the enemy. But, I am not very knowledgeable in Polish-Lithuanian history; that's something I'm wanting to start getting in to.

It might have an effect on the enemy, but it also had a serious effect on the rider as well. A bad one.

It was optional anyways wasn't it? So if you either couldn't afford it or didn't prefer it you just didn't wear it.

The Polish Hussars weren't exactly the low-class soldiers, so I don't think they couldn't afford it. They probably just wore them on parade and shit.

Haha yeah, I was thinking that as well. Saying a Winged Hussar can't afford his wings is like saying that a knight can't afford a horse or a sword.

If I were a Winged Hussar, I wouldn't wear them. They look awfully impractical.

Late war civil war infantry,
Of course, I also think lines should be able to move in double rank without having emotional breakdowns.

Late war civil war infantry,

That doesn't count. They had no regulated uniform.

Perhaps he likes the "random"-ish-ness of them.
