Introduction
The 3te Königlich Deutsche Legion [3rd King's German Legion] is a unit for Napoleonic Wars that has been active since 30th March 2017. Consistent of mostly ex-members of the 58th Regiment of Foot [Jan-Jun 2016] and the regiments that followed it, the 9th Royal Marines [Jul-Nov 2016] and the 54e Regiment d'ligne [Nov-May 2017]. We have a good balance of young bloods and seasoned veterans, each on different skill levels, and welcome all who are looking to join a contemporary unit who are ages 13 and up, no matter the skill level.
We welcome both North American and European members, as we aspire to soon have strong EU and NA companies. We also allow future members a choice between being an enlisted member, whom are active and must attend 8 events per month, and a reserve member, who come as they please, but must attend 1 event per month to be allowed in the regiment.
As a regiment, our policy is one of balance. When outside of events, there must be a balance of seriousness and leniency - when you are wearing the tags of the 3teKDL on public servers, give us a good name - Play hard and have a good time, but do not argue, insult, and give us, and yourself a bad name. Remember to recruit to help the regiment grow.
So too in events and trainings must we balance fun and seriousness - When we are in the line we must be obedient, quiet, and attentive; However, we must equally try our best and have a good time when we play.
We also attend North and South on occasion, so please have the North and South module installed.
Historical Overview
The King's German Legion (KGL) was a British Army unit of mostly expatriate German personnel during the period 1803–16. The Legion achieved the distinction of being the only German force to fight without interruption against the French during the Napoleonic Wars.
The Legion was formed within months of the dissolution of the Electorate of Hanover in 1803 and constituted as a mixed corps by the end of 1803. Although The Legion never fought autonomously and remained a part of the British Army during the Napoleonic Wars (1804–15), it played a vital role in several campaigns, most notably the Walcheren Campaign, the Peninsular War, and the Hundred Days (1815).
The Legion was disbanded in 1816. Several of the units were incorporated into the army of the Kingdom of Hanover, and became later a part of the Imperial German Army after unification in 1871.
The British German Legion, recruited for the Crimean War, is sometimes erroneously referred to as the "King's German Legion".
