2nd Estonian Infantry Regiment
History
The Governorate of Estonia or Duchy of Estonia, also known as the Government of Estonia, was a governorate of the Russian Empire in what is now northern Estonia. The Governorate was gained by the Russian Empire from Sweden during the Great Northern War in 1721.
The 2y Estonskii Pekhotniy Polk was part of the 14th Infantry division commanded by Major General Ivan Sazonov. The 14th Infantry division was one of two divisions in the 1st Infantry Corps commanded by Lieutenant General Count Peter Wittgenstein.
