In Development - B&I 3.0 - old thread
« on: February 25, 2014, 11:46:56 pm »

Follow the development progress for the next version of "The Age of Imperialism"
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Blood and Iron is back with a brand new update in the works! We are working hard to make this next update more memorable than Napoleon himself. We hope to create the best Victorian era experience for you, better than the time four-o-clock tea was introduced to cupcakes with pink icing.

There are lots of goodies in progress for this next update. One of the most exciting is the addition of a whole host of awesome scene props which will help to create dynamic maps. The new props will help to immerse you into the world of the late 19th century, as you battle for the control of the field against your opponents!

The developers also hope to inspire new and old mappers to jump back into the map editor, and create some more wonderful works of art! But this time, they are not only limited to your NW red, green, and blue paints; no, no, no... we here at Blood and Iron would like you to experiment with ALL the colours! The map is your canvas mappers, size it by the easel!!

As the team has learnt a lot from the previous B&I releases, and other mod releases and life spans, we are trying our hardest to give Blood and Iron the justice it deserves. We are trying our utmost to make this the best update to ever happen to a mod![/size]

Firstly, we are proud to announce two new, full, factions that you will be able to use in events. We will release more details regarding these factions later on, however feel free to hypothesise about what factions we're adding. And don't worry, the fun doesn't stop there! Along with the massive influx of new units, we will be introducing some new artillery pieces, some of which can be seen in the pictures. But that is not all either, we're adding new weapons, new armour pieces, some varied armour pieces (for a little sugar and spice, and everything nice), new taunts, and hopefully some cool new features.

These are not all the units in the Imperial Japan faction. There are more! We will show them to you in due time... or not... surprises are always nice :P

Now for some credits

Many thanks to Phlpp from the Gekokujo mod for Warband for his wonderful props, weapons, and other contributions to Imperial Japan. There will be lots of epic new maps that will come out of his efforts!

Thanks to SacredStoneHead, for his awesome Samurai Armour which we were able to customize. They defiantly add a lot to the traditional troops.

The OSP samurai pack (Lord of the Golden Fan), made by Bogmir, for his weapons and some other stuff.

Second Faction Announced
United States of America

"You ask me if I will not be glad when the last battle is fought, so far as the country
is concerned I, of course, must wish for peace, and will be glad when the war is
ended, but if I answer for myself alone, I must say that I shall regret to see the
war end."
- George Armstrong Custer

12th US Infantry

The 12th are one of the United State's oldest and most
decorated infantry regiments. They served in the War of
1812 and the Civil War prior to the later Indian Wars of
   the late 19th century.

   Civil War.

27th US Infantry

The 27th were originally absorbed by the 9th in 1869,
However, they were still reffered to as the 27th throu-
ghtout the wars. They took part in engagements, some
of which were Tongue River, Montana; Battle of the
Rosebud; and the Battle of Slim Buttes.

22nd US Infantry

After enjoying a relaxing spell on garrison duty after
the Civil War, the 22nd served in a series of frontier
forts on the Nortern Plains. They're noted for their
hit and run engagements in Montana, their particip-
ation in the Little Big Horn campaign, and more.

United States Marines

The US Marine Corps' reputation for being tough
soldiers is well deserved. From the end of the Civil
War to the closing of the 19th Century they were
involved in over 28 different interventions

4th US Cavalry

The 4th has been described as one of the most
effective regiments during the Plains Indian Wars
of the late 19th Century. Stationed on the Texas

13th US Cavalry

   The 13th Infantry are almost as old as the 12th;
although the 13th has been active and inactive
throughout the years. These mounted infantry
men were stationed with their regiment in Montana
and North Dakota between 1867 and 1871.

19th Mounted Infantry

The 19th Infantry were organised in 1861 at Indian-
apolis, Indiana. They were reorganised after the

   consolidated with the 28th Infantry.

Crow Scouts

Used by the United States Army during the
Great Sioux War, these native Americans
helped track Indians they perceived to be
hostile. They were noted for their involvement
in the Little Big Horn campaign, and some even
fought later in the Crow War of 1887.

United States Artillery

More mobile and deadly than ever, the new
modern artillery models allowed for the swift
turning of one's enemies into a bloody pulp.
The United States took advantage of the new
   advancements, utilizing the British rejected
Armstrong Gun and other new designs.
Depicted here is an 1860 Dahlgren Gun that
   replaces the NW fort cannons.

Not only does the US have all the glory that comes with the Army and Navy, they will also have access to Native troops: tomahawk and club wielding footmen, deadly bow warriors, and skilled riders. If you think the United States Marine Corps pack a punch, wait until you get into close combat with these fellows...

Many thanks to everyone who contributed to the new faction! Will did all the new uniforms (isn't that scarf fantastic? And the 22nd tunic?); and many thanks to Hinkel's donations here as well, you are a marvellous person (vielen dank)!

We'll think about it, but i made it slower before to balance the giant bayonets of this era. NW bayonet length is 140, B&I is 170.
