"America the Beautiful" Super Bowl Ad
« on: February 09, 2014, 11:08:22 pm »
Just going to post this here and let this go it's own course:

Personally, I love it.  realize it's a marketing ploy but I love it. But then you're going to have those xenophobic ultra-nationalistic idiots screaming but hey, what're you gonna do.

Personally, I thought the way it was done in Spanish and different languages was fine. But, the effect they were going for is that America is for everyone. That's cool. I can dig it. But, according to most people, they were outraged because, "If you're in America, you speak English, or gtfo." That's generally the common response to this ad I have seen. They could have just had it all in English, and had different cultures singing it? Idk. My opinion on this ad stands, I'm having a hard time explaining it, thanks whiskey.

What I find funny about the whole situation is that all of the conservatives are forgetting the fact that many Americans nowadays are Bi-(Or in my case tri)lingual. It's funny to read some of these comments XD

In terms of big company's making a "statement" (or whatever you want to call it), Channel 4 wins hands down.

In the long version of the ad, everyone who sings part of the song in their respective languages, says something in English. All these people are bilingual. America is not a country with a single language, and you gotta deal with it. Hell, even the Netherlands has English as its official 2nd language because we have some ex-colonies that speak largely English. Are we up in arms? Not really. But then again, we aren't Muricans who have a slightly different look upon things.

I've tried to follow some reactions and I saw quite a lot of people being angry about, I kid you not, the use of the 'Terrorists language'. Now, I have no problem having a discussion with someone who just thinks English should remain the only official language for whatever reasons, but using 'Terrorist' as a serious way of describing the Arabian language or Muslim cultures is frankly so stupid and ignorant that discussion is impossible anyway. I have no respect for these people. They are a disgrace.

I personally like the Vietnamese (or Cambodian?) people singing their part. In French. Their French sounds funny. Could anyone tell me what languages are used in 0:14 and 0:18, though?

Wait, what are people hating about this ad? :o
In theory we could do huge player numbers far over 500 players per server...  As such we will surely keep our promise to deliver you the 500 players per server.

We will probably go (far) over it, but that's for later.

The use of non-English languages to sing an (American) patriotic song.

Wismar, we quite frankly don't need such an aggressive attitude.
