Two weeks into the Campaign, and we’re off to a dramatic start.

The Prussian Faction is lead by The Tax Collector.
The Austrian Faction is lead by Florian.

===========

The Prussians invaded through Austria’s northeastern border, rapidly deploying troops into Provinz Oberschlesien and attempting to surround northern Bohemia.

The Austrian faction therefore moved its armies to the northern border, although they kept one in reserve for flexibility.
The 1st Battle of Oberschlesien set the stage for the rest of the war; initial Prussian domination of the field gave way to a staunch Austrian defence which allowed them to push the army back and maintain Austria’s defensive integrity.

Refusing to see his initial advance dissolve, Tax sent the Prussian 2nd Armee into southern Bohemia in the hopes of establishing a more favourable frontline.
Ill-prepared for such a sudden advance, the Austrian defenders took devastating losses and were routed, allowing the Prussians to consolidate their advance.

To the north, the battered Prussian 1st Army had been pushed out of Oberschlesien and into Niederschleisien, only to find that the Austrian Nordarmee had followed suit.
The battered Prussians were unable to withstand the Austrian onslaught, and Florian lead his men to inflict brutal losses on the Prussian 1st Army, losing very few men in the process.
With the northeastern front in dire straights and a fully manned Austrian army preparing to flank the Bohemian frontline, Tax Collector decided to rethink his approach.

Hoping to consolidate control over Bohemia, Tax brought his army to face the Austrian Saxon Army. Refusing to falter, he oversaw an Austrian defeat and prepared to move his armies forward once more.

As it stands, neither side can claim to be a clear winner.
Prussia has advanced deep into Austrian lands, however the Austrian defence has been resolute and the SudArmee stands ready to flank the Prussians and deconstruct their advance.

As the generals and tactitions of each faction ponder on their next move, one thing is clear-the war is far from over!

If you have any questions or comments about the Campaign, ask away! Otherwise, head over to our forums at nwrp.eu or our discord at discord.me/nwrp and join in the fun.

I’m here to bring you a huge update for NRP Campaign 3.0, with a major feature reveal.

As the first public server to bring a Multiplayer Campaign to Napoleonic Wars, we continually strive for ways to innovate and improve on our formula.
While people have enjoyed following the Campaigns in the past as the factions duke it out over the map, we wanted to find a way to streamline the way the off-server aspects of the Campaign were handled.

It is my pleasure to introduce the NRP Campaign Map.

The Campaign Map is a live-map which shows you exactly what’s going on. With custom sprites specifically created by our Campaign Team, you will be able to track every army/battle/event or movement that happens throughout the campaign with ease.
Gone are the days of awkwardly photoshopping a ready-made map to show new moves, this new map makes the post-battle paperwork a fraction of the work required previously.

To give you a little insight, I’ll explain exactly what you’re seeing:

Armies and Occupation
Armies are represented by their custom animated sprites which have the name of the army underneath. Armies and their strength are listed in the side panel.
Armies can be simply dragged and dropped around the map to represent their movement.

As for occupation, it is now simply handled by flags-these can also be dragged and dropped! It will be much easier to co-ordinate and follow grand campaigns using this tool; the sprites and names could even be edited to represent NW Regiments if they become a big enough part of the Campaign!

Battle History
In the side panel to the left, all battles and their results will be recorded so you can keep an eye on how things are progressing.
Any serious developments, news snippets or announcements will also be listed here.

Railroads, Forts and Other Icons
You’ll notice a lot of different icons such as forts, cities or railways. These represent in-game mechanics which we’re still perfecting through our simulated campaigns on testing weekends. These can also be added, moved or edited very easily and this functionality will be extremely useful for the future.

Perhaps the most exciting thing about the introduction of this unique new feature is the possibilities for the future; by streamlining the most complicated part of the Campaigns, the possibility for other Campaigns/Events/Simulated Wars are endless and we plan to capitalise fully on this; expect much, much more from NRP!

In the meantime, don’t forget that the Faction Leaders are going to be picked and announced tomorrow.
If you want to have a chance to lead Prussia to her Ascendance or maintain control of Germany as the Austrian Emperor, be sure to apply on our forums at nwrp.eu

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to get in touch with myself (Steam: Scandypandy) or our staff over on discord (discord.me/nwrp)
Cheers!

I loved the previous campaign. I will be playing this one as well for sure!
Just a little unsure why Fire in Charge is allowed though  ???

For Prussia!

Fire in charge is one of several unconventional rules NRP allows for a few reasons, one of which is immersion. Simply put, a charge on NRP is very different to a charge in an organised regimental event. Expect much more chaos and adrenaline than meticulously planned executions via bayonet. We have scripts which remove all ammunition from players when an "All Charge" is ordered, meaning that if anyone has a loaded musket they can let off a shot-but only one.
It means that whilst in the chaos of a massed charge there are still a few bullets flying, which adds both to the immersion and the risk!

You say writers - what exactly do you mean? What will be written up? Am I just going to be playing along to a pre-written script or something?
And when you say that there's discord integration, can my reg use teamspeak? How will that work out? I personally prefer discord, but our leader is a staunch teamspeak advocate. The stuff about officers and whatnot sounds good though, I'll poke my corporal to apply.

Nothing about the Campaign is scripted, it's all dynamic!
Our writers aren't there to dictate what you should do, but rather to immortalise what you've done.
When a particular officer, line, individual or group (whether it be a regiment, a unit or a rag-tag team of survivors) accomplish something noteworthy, our writers-provided they're informed of what happened-will write something up describing the event for our records.
This means that people have an immersive incentive to strive for greatness in the Campaign.

Here's an example:
Spoiler
…But we had to take it. ‘If the English control the straits, they control everything’. That`s what they told us. ‘If we take Isle de Burly, then we will take the entire Commonwealth’. He had the gall to sound so sure, even after the first assault had been shredded by those wretched rockets. I approached him and said, ‘Sir, if we launch another attack, they only thing we will be taking is more casualties!’ Needless to say, I was assigned to the next wave.”

-Corporel Marie Le Pen, First Republican Army

“From every house, from every window, out jumped an Englishman. They would run up just to the edge of the melee, and look you dead in the eyes as they shot you- easily within lance or bayonet range. We fought in the Soyuz, we fought in the Colonies, but it was like we had never fought anything at all when we were matched against those Englishmen.”

-Privé Auguste Gusteau, First Republican Army
[close]
This describes two events of the last campaign, in which a misguided counter-attack sent doubt rippling through the minds of many of the French Officers. The battle itself was extremely brutal for the French, in which they were caught in a bloodbath when English troops ambushed them whilst entering an enclosed part of a town. What followed was a shattering defeat that sent the French Faction in a downward spiral.
Of course, separate posts exist to glorify successful actions or tactical brilliance displayed by officers or soldiers.

As for discord, and teamspeak, we prefer people use out discord.
The simple reason is that a massive majority of Line Officers will be using our Discord which is essential for co-operation and cohesion. The NRP Discord provides a private voice+text channel for each faction and while we don't prevent regiments who play the events from using their teamspeak, more often than not they struggle to act in cohesion with the rest of the team which can lead to their line being destroyed. The NRP Discord is one of the largest Napoleonic Wars discords and we have a dedicated community staff who serve to accommodate those who play in our events and I personally would suggest using the discord for sake of immersion, fun and performance.

The third iteration of the NRP Public Campaign has been is starting soon!
It is the pleasure of the NRP Admin Team and wider Community to announce the beginning of NRP Campaign 3.0.

Our previous two campaigns have been a resounding success, and 3.0 is shaping up to be our most ambitious one yet.

NRP Campaign 3.0 is based on the 7 Weeks War between Prussia and Austria, in an ahistorical scenario which serves as a simplified conflict to decide whether Austria or Prussia will ascend to masters of Germany.
With dedicated writers, all developments in the campaign and significant events will be written up in an immersive fashion as players will serve the Prussian or Austrian armies in a war for domination.

The NRP Campaign: What is it?
The NRP Campaign is essentially a hybrid of public and organised regimental play. NRP has been the largest community of public-driven battle roleplays in the NW Community for several years, providing large scale wargames with enough rules to bring immersion and organisation without the rigid and limited aspect of regimental-based gameplay.

A Campaign will be set either in a historical or fictional setting, and the players through their actions will be able to decide the outcome.
Every single layer of the Campaign is fully controlled by players, and driven by players.

-Each faction has a Command Structre, which players can apply to become part of
-Command Structures can select generals for specific lines or units, which players can all become
-Each faction has a designated Leader who acts as the go-between for their faction and the admin team

There are victory conditions and mechanics in place to allow for a tactical progression of the campaign based on the outcomes of battles, allowing for an immersive and dynamic experience unparalleled in Napoleonic Wars.

NRP Campaign Battles: How do they work?

Battles in the NRP Campaign are similar to those you would see in a typical regimental match, only with adjustments for immersion, fun and breathing room to accommodate the public nature of the server.
Each line is lead by an officer, however there are few limits as to who can join what line beyond the Officer Slot itself. Players are free to pick and choose whatever unit they please, however of course limits are placed on unit allowances for the sake of balance.
Units will then follow their officer and his orders, and the rest is up to the players!

In a typical NRP Battle, expect to see;

-Up to 250 Players battling it out in immersive Napoleonic Warfare
-A representation of cohesion and morale as lines or command may dissolve should an Officer fail to keep his men in order when the casualties start piling up
-Handcrafted maps designed to allow for choke points and killing fields, ensuring that any battle's tide can be turned by smart leadership
-Truly dynamic gameplay; no NRP Battle is the same as any other, and even the lowly ranker can watch the battle unfold before him in a myriad of layered tactical incidents
-Organisation with room to breathe; as an officer, you are free to employ unorthodox or risky methods if you believe it's in your best interest. Fire in charge, officer targeting, sapper forting and artillery guarding are all permitted provided they are not done with the intention of trolling or disrupting play!

Officers are encouraged to use the NRP Discord which has been specifically tailored to make co-operative play amongst different officers viable and extremely useful.

Should I bring my Regiment?
Absolutely!
NRP has always supported Regimental Play through our lenient rules on regimental recruitment. Both our discord, forum and server allow for regimental recruitment, however on the server itself recruitment messages are limited to once per map. With a server full of over 200 players, there's no better place to find some potential recruits.
Several regiments have continually been supported or even born from NRP, and it's always been our belief that while we remain a staunchly public server the Regimental Scene of NRP provides an excellent "next level" for casual public players to aspire to. Regiments who commit to regular play on NRP and who bring a large number of people to the server are often even asked if they'd like to reserve an officer or general slot during a Battle.
Note that Regiments are not given total control over any single unit nor can it be guaranteed that all of them can play together; if all cavalry slots are filled or a line is far too big, NRP will not begin to force players out of their roles to accommodate Regimental members. However, reserved and officer slots WILL be given to Regimental Leaders if they are approved.
We hope to find the balance between public and competitive play, and the NRP Campaign can be an excellent place for some relaxed but competitive practice for your regiment, as well as advertising your regiment to hundreds of people.

The NRP Campaign-How does it progress?
We have devised a ruleset and mechanics which allow the NRP Campaign to progress based on two key things;
-Decisions made by the Command Structure of Each Faction
-The Outcome of Battles themselves

Each NRP Campaign has a Campaign Map which factions where armies are displayed. Faction Leaders can command armies to take various actions, and when two armies clash-or when an army reaches a major settlement-a battle or siege ensues.
The two prior campaigns have given us much experience in making this system as streamlined yet deep as possible, making the off-server tactical decisions as important as the server-side battles themselves.

Checks and balances are all in place to prevent snowballing, and a continuous narrative is provided to keep everyone immersed in what's going on.

If you'd like to see one of our (smaller) Campaign Battles underway, here's a recording:

This looks great! Very well put together modification and I can see a lot of work has been put in to make this thing a reality. This is most certainly the type of thing that was required to invigorate public play on NW and you've certainly developed a very detailed and in-depth idea here from the previous things we've attempted in this game. Very well done and I wish you fellows all the best in the running of this, but I must say it's certainly brought a lot of people back into the game as you guys are easily filling 250 slots every time a battle is hosted - which in this stage of the games life span is a very impressive sight to see in a public server and I can't quite put a time in my head, even in the games prime years ago, that I've saw a stable 250 slot server - it certainly must be a powerful piece of kit you're running this on!

Here's from us at Minisiege, best of luck and I hope you guys continue to do as well as you have been with this!

Hi Gretel-cheers! The Campaign has been a huge success and it is wonderful to see the popularity of it. The amount of positive feedback in the form of youtube videos (courtesy of Gambling Gamer), all sorts of player-made content and generally people feel immersed and attached to what goes on.
As I'm sure you and the fellas know over at Minisiege, it hasn't been the easiest of rides to keep NW kicking-since without the Public Servers such as NRP and Minisiege the community as a whole hits the dirt-and innovative stuff is what keeps the players coming back.

It's been a while since I dipped into Minisiege, maybe I'll take a look! In the meantime, it'd be great to see you fellas pop in for one of the Campaigns, they're usually announced via our discord (discord.me/nwrp)

In the meantime, enjoy a Youtube Video created by one of the players surrounding one of the more important battles!

The "Battle of U20" was in many ways a "Waterloo" moment, with the seemingly unstoppable French Army being met by the British army in order to hopefully halt their advance.

Looks very well put together! I wish NA could have something of this caliber.

Thank you! A massive part of its success is the fact that it is open to the public. While some may fear that playing with public players may lead to tactical errors, in practice a lot of people have loved it since "morale" seems to have become a mechanic of its own! The cohesion of a line and ability of an Officer to communicate now has a direct affect on the line he leads, we've seen many engagements decided by a broken morale of players not used to regimental battles leading to lines retreating or scattering just like you'd see in the likes of Total War.

It's extremely accessible but really quite deep if you get into it!
The best way to check out more is on our forums over at nwrp.eu

Well, this Campaign was conceived and has been in development before either of the other two, however we're absolute thrilled that it's catching on! I recall speaking with the Head Admin of Minisiege (Quickone, I believe at the time) and the two of us being quite excited for it to launch!
This sort of innovation is exactly what NW needs to breathe some life into the public scene beyond NRP and Minisiege holding things together! NRP has always been keen on providing unique and structured public play on a massive scale, and this is our way of taking it to the next level!  ;D

We also pride ourselves on our accessibility; anyone may enter the events and campaign regardless of whether they're playing for a regiment or solo! A lot of public players feel that complex events as this are gated by Regiments (who can prove to be an extremely toxic experience if you join the wrong one) and thus we're happy to keep this open to the public above all else.

The campaign has been underway for a few weeks now, but there's nothing stopping you signing up as either a rank and file soldier or an Officer for one of the armies!
The Campaign in practice has proven to be an even greater success than it was in theory; unlike any other server in all of Napoleonic Wars, you can take part in massive battles with up to 250 players with most Campaign Battles averaging between 190-230 players!

Allegiance to a Faction is much more than just picking a team to play for; as each battle has weight and strategic value associated with it, fighting for every scrap of land has been described as not only immersive, but even "emotionally engaging" by several of our players.
Some quotes by our players in regards to the Campaign include:

"I feel much closer to everyone now that we have all fought and bled together when the stakes were high and there was glory to be won!" -bk2

"I would say that the NRP campaign is like the best way to use the potential of NW in term of teamplay and tactics. The stakes of every battle make every rounds more interessants because every one want victory at all costs, and the teams usually fight together for this, giving us the best shows" -Gokibouri

"Just when I was starting to bore with NW, suddenly there's pretty much new mode that lets me fight in events and battles with actual consequences of defeat/victory. The new units are also excellent!" -59th Darkslayer

"There's something very magical about playing with 250 other players, seeing huge lines firing volleys at one another and knowing that the battle you're fighting in is part of a larger war. Watching Officers try and use proper tactics to gain supremacy over the enemy knowing full well that defeat may be costly on a larger scale is something that I can't recommend enough."

Need some more tangible material from the Campagin?

Below you will find the Campaign Map from our second Weekly Update. The Grande République have invaded the other two factions, and will be meeting an army of the Crown Colonies in Battle as well as an army of the Rossiyskiy Soyuz. These 3 custom factions-described in the first post-all have their own armies and officers for various selected lines are selected before battles begin.

The Roster can be seen on either side of the map, indicating officers who will be present and the Faction Leader themselves. Every week this map is updated with territorial changes, deaths of officers and other strategic details.

Here is an example of the new Units included in the optional mod:

Many of these look to be useful (although NRP has had medics for about a year now) especially the revive function.
We'll have a lot work to do in order to get things back in order but hey, it's nice to see some of our scripts inspired actual in game mechanics.

The public servers of NW (well, all 3 or 4 of the actually populated ones) have been keeping the NW community on life support to make sure there are actually people around to see these updates, and it's nice to know that even the developers still care for the massive potential community in NW.

Overall, well done!

14
Look man, most of my time is being put into working on NRP's transition from NW to Holdfast: Nations at War, so in regards to the NW NRP server it's by and large a "lost cause" but if you'd like to chat with myself (or any other member of NRP's staff) details can all be found at www.59th.eu, alternatively if you'd rather talk over steam or the like my steam is the same as my username.

My only involvement in any of this is calling out how absolutely stupid the idea is of two popular public servers trying to harm one another, and would strongly encourage anyone who disagrees with that to piss off and find a new hobby.
From what we've seen in this thread, the fact remains that the NW community-particularly the FSE community-is still disgustingly chock-full of these retards who think that just because they're in a regiment-which is largely just a group of friends playing a video game, no different to clans or guilds in other games-that they have some bizarre form of sway or authority over individuals or a community, to the point where they'd happily wish ill intent upon a server which was giving hundreds of players fun and drawing in fresh faces to NW almost right up until the game's inevitable death.

Similar to problems I've had with the regiment that hosts our servers-the 59th Regiment of Foot-I take issue only with the troublemakers and as a whole am disinterested in the rest of the regiment itself. I'm not particularly interested in the regimental side of these games and thus care little for how much I soil myself for telling them to fuck off when their members start acting up, but simply put these utter manchildren need to be reminded that this is a video game and not a war, and they are normal people not generals.
Get your egos back in their boxes and chill out, my lovelies.
You can contact me however you like if you find anything worth mentioning, but otherwise I'm happily satisfied having said my piece and made it clear that shit-stirring babbies certainly aren't welcome in any community.

I'll leave this thread be as again-I don't normally post on FSE and I'd despise to see this sort of thing were NRP's staff being accused of something suddenly shitting up one of our threads.
Feel free to contact me if you'd like to settle any water (if you feel such a thing is necessary) otherwise I hope you catch and swiftly deal with these spastics so that the rest of us can go on having fun with the *video game*
Best of luck.

15
The ironic thing is that regardless of all this, none of the people in this thread would be "unwelcome" on NRP; sure, if you're going to fucking crash our servers then sure, you can fuck off. But if you just hate the server? Fine!

But christ alive it's humiliating to see these people play babbies-first-intrigue as they fuck over the playerbase for some feigned "victory."

NW is a dying game and believe you me if I see this shit cropping up in Holdast when it comes out I'll be all the happier to tell you to fuck off there too. Regiments, servers, this site-it's all supposed to be HELPING the playerbase, not dryfucking it up the lazy susan just because you have some personal issue with a server/the people running it.

All this dumb rivalry shit is stupid, people will play the servers they like. If NRP/Minisiege goes down it doesn't matter in the long run because grounded fans are there for the content they like, not the content which has managed to out-jew the other content the most.

NRP is sadly a lost cause-as I continue to tell the many players who get in touch with me or our other ex-admins enquiring where their favourite server is gone. However hoepfully this has all raised some eyebrows in regards to why certain people are still involved in the community; some people aren't here to play or help the community survive, they're here to have an imaginary dick measuring contest with people who for the most part don't know they exist.

------------Dont Type anymore messages here untill told you can Goes to all but head admins.--------

Looks like someone's getting nervous. Let me re-iterate, despite my various disagreements on a couple of rules on minisiege, I have continually (to much mockery at times) stated that I have utmost respect for the server due to the level of efficiency at which it is run. I will be deeply saddened if I find out that they did indeed have any malicious intent whatsoever toward NRP, as I have tried where I can to avoid NRP having any poor intent toward it.
Unfortunately, the evidence seems to be mounting up in favour of one group of people deliberately trying to sabotage an incredibly popular public server, thus proving that they care more about harming "us" than they do about the community as a whole; something a public server REALLY doesn't want on their record.
I hope no giga-autists decide to try and ruin YOUR stuff because they have some weird ideas about why they want to be part of NW.

I pray that with Holdfast or other games that this godawful shitfest on this site finally dies so that the community can be driven by people who care about the players, as opposed to people who care about their image or other personal nonsense.

It's a fucking video game you goddamned retards, stop shitting in your hands and clapping for some attention.

Much love.
