Title: Source files and Singleplayer concept
Post by: Olafson on November 09, 2012, 09:57:05 pm
Quote from: Vincenzo
Hey guys!

Just a little headsup, the source files are released for the Napoleonic Wars expansion.

Remember that you are not allowed to backport (transfer) any Napoleonic Wars expansion content (including, but not limited to, Models, Textures, Scripts, Shaders, Sounds)
to Mount & Blade, Mount & Blade: Warband or Mount & Blade: With Fire & Sword unless you add a CD Key check for the Napoleonic Wars CD key in your mod installer.
The installer script provided in the package does this for you, so you do not have to worry about this if you use it.

Download the sources here:
www.flyingsquirrelent.eu/mb_warband_napoleonic_wars_source_1006.zip

Have fun modding!

Also, a litte note from me. As you might remember, long before the release of NW we were working on a linear mission based Singleplayer campaign.
All the Singleplayer source code is inlcuded in the source code zip. That means, that you will be able to make your own mission based Singleplayer campaign, or reactivate our campaign.

Since we thought that it would be a total waste of time if we did not release our Singleplayer source code and concept, we will also release our Singleplayer concept document.
The concept is unchanged and it looked exactly like that when we decided to cancel our Singleplayer concept.

Have fun modding, and hopefully we will see a few Singleplayer mods soon!

Interesting that you mention a singleplayer, will that be a function in BCoF?

What's wrong with a standard Native style campaign?  It's easier to make, and if you do want some story line, you can have unique quests per faction, which is a possibility.

Thanks for sharing the Single Player concept.  Loved reading the brainstorming ideas and image inspirations.

Sounds like a good idea, the way you'd like to do the singleplayer campaign. I hope someone will pick it up, and make it good. Maybe, we can see the singleplayer as an update way into the future for NW?

I recall a modder said he looked through it and didn't even want to attempt sorting the unfinished mess that was there.

Well, whoever does manage to do it first will gain fame and respect.

Mmhm. I wouldn't mind a mission based single player campaign for NW, like say Red Orchestra where ou lead your men forward, TO GLORY!

I've looked through the code for the singleplayer mission based campaign. I honestly can't even begin to imagine how much work it would take to finish that. I'll just hop along with the Jacobites Rising and leave it at that....

Several hundred. Depending on skill level.

Man, how good life would be if it only took several hundred hours to make a mod.

I'm talking about just getting what's there now functioning.
With a 1 man team, to finish the entire project, you'd be looking at more than a year and a half.

I read that there were rapiers in there, was this an early concept for NW a sword that has more damage with stabbing then slashing? If so I am wondering why the idea was scrapped.

Probably because trying to slash with a rapier is just about as effective as trying to impale someone on a spoon, thus leaving only one attack direction with the rapier, which can be easily blocked.

Unless you give it 4 stabs. Which would involve adding a special sword type. Effort.

Is there anyone working on this? Seems like something the community would be all over to me.

I think there is two reasons why really.

1: L'Aigle is in the works.

2: While interesting idea in theory, would anyone play Mount And Blade without the RPG stats and the general overworld that makes it a sandbox game?

Busy with activating this "concept", Once I managed to properly sort this out, I'll obviously make a download available

So far I can say, I'm really impressed with what I'm seeing. Really a shame that FSE had to drop this because of Taleworlds..

Here a look of an intro at the start of a mission.
Screw the graphics

believe paradox were pushing taleworlds to release the dlc, so fse were unable to complete the game to their own standard
