Audio input/output setups
« on: August 13, 2017, 07:34:12 am »
Post your headphones and mics and anything else that's apart of your setup, and be sure to say if you recommend them to others or not. I'm using Superlux HD668B headphones, which are pretty great sounding though slightly uncomfortable, and a Blue Snowball mic since I was on a low, low budget when I bought it.

Anyone have any experience using compressors? I'd like to get a physical one but want to test it out with a virtual first, but I don't really know where to begin.

I use Clouds for my headset because they are pretty much Takstar pro 80s which I really like and a Q2u for my mic because it's pretty much a ATR2100

You like the Q2U? Do you have a XLR hookup or are you just using the basic USB/3.5mm cable?

I don't need the XLR connection atm because I'm not really recording anything so the USB is fine for now.

True. I'm kinda struggling to comprehend why an XLR cable can get value if you're going to always need a USB or 3.5mm adapter regardless. I guess if you have an audio interface or a physical compressor you can minimize the drop in quality, maybe, but either way you're still going to end up having a 3.5mm connecting the interface to the computer.

Logitech G35 headset. Yeah I know, most gaming headsets are crap compared to real ones, but honestly the g35 is pretty fucking good. No complaints.

How much did you pay for it? Was looking at it and it seems to be a nice little headset

€110,- a few years back. It's quite sturdy and has lasted me this long without any trouble.

I am using some $100 surround sound wireless headset i got back in 2011.   i got it for my PS3.  been working fine for me and the battery still lasts 5-6 hours without needing to be charged.

funnily enough, i just use it for teamspeak, and not for surround sound when i play.  I have only recently started using it for its actual purpose after all these years.  seems to get rid of the audio lag i get when i stream Arma 3.  I must say, it sounds great hearing all those bullets flying by.
