Event Guidelines:
Since I’m the one who has organized this event, I feel it is my responsibility, as well as my privilege, to create the guidelines for this event. In the spirit of the old MM community, which was, generally lighthearted, slightly comical, always exciting, innovative, and which had a tinge of glory to it for those who sought it, this will be a fairly laidback event with very few restrictive rules on formations, class sizes, etc.
Obviously, formations of some sort will be required for most units. Units will have to stay reasonably close to each other as well. Ramboing, will not be permitted unless, of course, it is harmless and (hopefully) funny.
Line infantry will have to remain in lines and will have to fire in lines for the most part.
Firing out of formation will be permitted, but it is frowned upon. It was never an issue in MM since bullets are so inaccurate.
If only three players are left in a unit, they have the option to charge, retreat to the guns, assuming they are still operational, or to a nearby line.
If only three players are left alive on one side and the other side is decisively winning, rules will no longer be imposed upon the losing team, so long as they are not intentionally delaying and have some tactical objective they are pursuing (i.e. they are actually trying to put up a good fight). If the team with the advantage has more than 20 players, the rules will still be in effect for them. If the team with the advantage has less than 20, but more than ten, units will have to stay together, but can break formation in order to quickly end the round. If there’s less than 10, then they can do whatever they want.
Cavalry will be limited to 20 per team, with a maximum of 10 lancers per team. The rest of the cavalry unit may go another class.
Skirmishers will be limited to 15 per team and are free to choose their infantry class. They will have to stay in some formation, have a maximum spacing of 5, and can use any terrain, foliage or barricades they possess in any manner they choose.
Arty will be limited to two cannons per team. Their cannon guard is permitted to act as skirmishers so long as they remain nearby the guns. Cannon guard size shouldn't exceed 15 infantry rankers, but I really don’t foresee this being an issue.
These are the general guidelines for the event, although I don’t think they really will need to be referenced. Most of the people who will be attending are mature, MM veterans who don’t whine about absurd little things. This should be a relaxed, fun event, not a ragefest.
