The Mess Hall / EU Community Thread - WIP
« on: November 09, 2016, 07:41:47 pm »
This is a preliminary thread (will be updating on the weekend).

Any suggestions pertaining to how we can expand/revitalise/improve the NW and more specifically EU Community would be helpful at this stage.

I do have a clear idea of the innovations which I endeavour to implement over the next two months and will be updating the thread in the near future, in order to present my ideas to you.

Please keep your responses relevant to the thread. Thank you.

The Ultimate Showdown! NA v EU returns once again, in an event, hosted by the 63e, in which the North American and European communities will face off in a 1v1 linebattle to determine, once and for all, which community is the best! The basic format of the event states that both communities will each have a representative council of 8 individuals. Once chosen, the respective councils will then proceed to elect a Team Captain who in turn will select a Vice-Captain (The Captain and Vice-Captain will lead the line, as 1st and 2nd in command, during linebattle). Each side will also have a Team Manager, who will be responsible for selecting the roster for their team (again this individual will be appointed by the council). The linebattle itself will consist of 14 rounds in total, 7 of which will be played on an EU server (with 'medium' melee speed) and 7 on an NA server (with 'fastest' melee speed). The current EU NWL rules will be used throughout the whole linebattle (all 14 rounds), although we will adapt these for the event (the current rules stated below are not the final set) and post an updated final set closer to the date of the competition. The aforementioned council, will be compiled of 8 active EU players and 8 active NA players, who the organisers will select. Once the councils have formed, members of their respective councils will vote to determine a Team Captain and Team Manager. The councils will also be asked for their opinions on other things such as the rules and maps.

The date is TBD, this is the NA thread!.

This  event is brought to you by the 63e Regiment d'Infanterie de Ligne

EU NWL Rules
1a. No shooting in melee or out of formation.

1a.3 The officer is not allowed to shoot on his own while his line is waiting in cover
1b. Movement ONLY in formation.
1b.1 A formation is a tight line, with gaps tightly closed when standing, and with gaps not bigger than 2 men average while moving.
1b.2 Charge movements only in reasonable distances - a charge does not require any formation.
1b.3 A referee can insist on closing gaps in lines that are moving with too big gaps between their men.
2. Gaps have to be closed tight.
2.1 If you fire without closing the gap beforehand, you may be punished by the referee.

  3.1 Officer aiming is only true in the following situations;
Shot whilst marching ahead of the line.
Shot whilst ranged combat and not within 5 man spacing of the original line.
3.2 In the following situations, officer aiming does not apply.
If the officer is standing in front, behind or in the line (from enemies viewpoint)
In a definite and obvious charge movement towards the enemy line.
4. Allowed units: Rankers and officers of regular line infantry - No skirmishers, light infantry or guard infantry.
5. Only one line per team and a max of two officers is allowed.
6. No Bonuses, no musicians, no flag bearers.

9. Matches have to be played on the official servers.
10. Multiple referees must be present at the match.
11. You need to play your match in the given time.
11.1. The match time and date will be decided by both sides councils and then poll'd by participants once a starting lineup is decided by the team managers.
11.2. If you need to reschedule your match you will have to check with the organisers.
12. No invites or mercenaries are allowed, players must be specified on the team roster before the match starts.
13. Referee rulings have to be accepted within the match.
13.1 Instructions of a referee must be followed; excluding instructions which would change the match dramatically where no rules have been broken (e.g. charge orders or similar orders).
13.1.1 The referee may kick anyone who is not from a partaking team off the server.
13.1.2 The referee may forbid to use the global chat and global admin chat for everyone, other chats (internal ones) are not mentioned.
13.1.3 A regiment must follow the instructions of a referee. If a regiment fails to do so after multiple calls, he may annul rounds.
14. No flaming or insulting. Organisers may punish insults or inappropriate behaviour with ceding or cancelling points.

4. The council will have some influence on helping decide on rules and other aspects of the event.
