Technical Support / Crashing after launcher
« on: March 25, 2016, 12:44:27 am »
After I press "play" on the launcher, regardless of mod or native, the game crashes.

It seems to stem from a recent NVIDIA update, but I'm not certain (and it also doesn't make much sense).

Leads to help are appreciated.

Mapping / [FINISHED] MEGA Arabian Harbour
« on: February 27, 2016, 08:27:30 am »
Admins tend to change an event's map to be Arabian Harbour by accident every now and then.  This will fix that issue for good.

Introducing the next big Sethja hit - MEGA Arabian Harbour.

Finally finished.

BIG map, BIG image.

Note - As of June I have started working on this again.  I thought I deleted the files (due to a reinstall) months ago, but found them again.  MEGA Arabian Harbour is ON

As of May 2017, I am for real this time working on this again.  I plan to finish it by the end of June.

As of May 21, 2017, the map is finished!

Simply put the .sco in your SceneObj folder and it will automatically replace "The Island" as a map.

It's made for linebattles.  Admins please take.

Other Games / RO1 / Darkest Hour Europe '44-'45
« on: October 20, 2015, 05:27:26 am »

Here's a forum for discussion about Red Orchestra 1 (alive?) and Darkest Hour (which is still alive and "well" as of late 2015)

Thought I would put this down since Darkest Hour 6.0 is coming out soon, so it might pop up the game/mod a bit.  It looks pretty promising.

Just in case you're someone who left the DH train a while ago like I did - you can always come back and jam with those who are still around.  The action is still intense as ever  ;)

Also, as a shameful advertisement, if you're interested in the realism side, the I. / FJR2 is helping to revitalize the realism game and is looking for active members.

Clans / Fallschirmjäger Rgt. 2 [Darkest Hour/other WWII games] [NA]
« on: October 18, 2015, 06:13:42 am »

In January 1943 the Oberkommando der Wehrmacht  decided to raise a second elite
parachute division. The formation would include the veteran 2nd Parachute Regiment, recently detached from
the 1st Parachute division. The division would also incorporate troops from the remnants of several other airborne
units that had suffered heavy losses in recent battles.

The Fallschirmjäger Rgt. 2 was founded by Squid, a member of the PLG, a realism veteran of the 1st Rangers and the 506th PIR, and a currently serving veteran. Our primary endeavor is to accurately portray the unit in the late war period, maintaining a historically accurate yet equally entertaining atmosphere. We are looking for those who share these pursuits, and we welcome anyone who is interested. However, We don't exclusively cater to those looking for a "realistic" experience. We also welcome those who are eager for teamwork, and unit cohesion. So once again we invite anyone craving for a unique historical and team based gaming experience to contact us. Our current cadre also includes Sethja8 (graphics and design lead) and Sanford (Assistant Squad Leader).

If you wish to join us, do it through our website.  There is a registration section.

We use German names ingame and have documents and other pieces to support our involvement with the regiment.

A thanks to Millander who made this thread's format.  This thread is based off of the 58NY thread.

History of Fallschirmjäger Rgt. 2

Fallschirmjäger Rgt. 2 was inconspicuously created as an element of the clandestine 7. Flieger Division. This formation would later be re-designated as 1. Fallschirmjäger Division. Fallschirmjäger Rgt. 2 was first mobilized in the invasion of Poland where it was tasked to capture Polish airfields.

The following year, on the 10th of May, 1940, members of the 1st Battalion under Captain Noster fought in Holland as part of one of the largest airborne operations in the Second World War. Following the momentous success in the lower European countries, the unit was transferred to the Balkans in preparation for the invasion of Crete.

Crete was the largest fallschirmjäger airborne operation. Despite suffering from heavy casualties the fallschirmjäger successfully captured the island in just twelve days.
The regiment was quickly reformed in the Balkans to join the Ost front.  They fought in Russia from the winter of 1941 until March of 1942.

The regiment was then reorganized as part of the 1st Luftwaffen Jäger Brigade in preparation to join the Afrika Korps. They fought with distinction under General Ramcke as part of Rommel’s Afrika Korps and many remained behind to cover the army’s hasty retreat Italy.

In March 1943, the I. / FJR2 deployed to the island of Leros in the Aegean Sea. After eight months of intense combat, the fallschirmjäger captured the island on the17th of November 1943. For their gallantry and superior performance in combat, five members of Fallschirmjäger Regiment 2 received the German Cross in Gold.  The regiment was relieved and sent to Athens where it would reform to redeploy on the Eastern front.

The regiment worked in concert with 2nd SS Panzer Division "Das Reich” to defend against a brutal Russian Winter offensive. The Germans maintained their position for the duration of December, but after two months, the battle wary unit was forced to retreat.  The remaining elements were sent to Brittany to regroup and recuperate.

By the 20th of June 1944, the paratroopers were once again committed into combat. The unit was deployed near Brest, but was finally forced to surrender despite Hitler’s orders to fight to the last man.

The unit never recovered from the Normandy campaign. Fallschirmjäger Rgt. 2 was reformed in 1945 and the last remaining members fought until they surrendered in the Ruhr Pocket in April 1945.

Their superior performance in combat and their unrelenting commitment to their oath and country earned the admiration and respect of both friend and foe. Field Marshal Harold Alexander remarked, “The tenacity of these German paratroopers is quite remarkable. I doubt that there are any other troops in the world who could have stood up to it and then gone on fighting with the ferocity they have.” For their tenacity, they were nicknamed “Grüne Teufel” (Green Devils).  Indeed it is decreed in fallschirmjäger first commandment:

You are the chosen ones of the German Army. You will seek combat and train yourselves to endure any manner of test. To you, the battle shall be fulfillment.

North & South: First Manassas / Fort Wagner
« on: September 11, 2015, 06:02:41 am »
hi i'm sethja and i make maps

i'm not great at mapmaking, and i'd like some constructive criticism for this map (i'm not great with the history of wagner and i can't find much on it) tho keep in mind i'd like to have a balanced map over accurate map

i decided to work a little bit on a fort wagner map a while ago but i didn't like it because it was made near-fully of logs.

recently, i came and replaced the logs (by adding to them) with dirt (since fort wagner was made of sand and dirt supported by logs)

i've only worked on the fort (props and a little bit of terrain work) but link 3 will be used later to put down flora if i decide to finish this.

oh, speaking of which, ignore the floating cannons ::) post-log rework i had to move them and up was the easiest way

there are still bits and pieces which aren't done terrain or prop wise in case you see the generic "there's an X missing here"

one problem i have with it personally is the look of the dirt blocks (the walls).  i might be able to fix it with micro-prop-managing

Here's a "battleplan" that shows where attackers can enter the fort and how I hope the siege progresses.
LBlue = Defenders :: Orange = Attackers :: Red/Green on walls signify if climbable or not.
[close]

specifically i'd like :
-structure criticism or history-buffs telling me what i did wrong (the wooden buildings in the structure are more for balance so the defenders have something hard to sit behind)
-terrain criticism
-any other comments, really.  i don't need any playtesting (yet) since there are no possible "bugs" until i want to break the scenic for the siege

since it's so 'early' in development i can take a hit.  if something is seriously bothering you, feel free to send a suggestion.  ;)

Union / 58th New York - Polish Legion [NA]

the above image is modified.

THE POLISH LEGION, under command of Colonel Julian Allen, are fast increasing their numbers,
and perfecting themselves in military tactics. One of the companies, mustering seventy-seven men, wearing the crimson
Lancer cap, passed our office yesterday on their way to be measured for their uniforms.  (May 1, 1861)

This is the 1erPLG's North and South regiment.  We made this regiment 'cause North and South is fun and we're big-dong polska mothafuckas.
We have our own unique regiment ingame!  Page 8 has pictures.

If you wish to join us, do it through our website or our FSE thread
We don't have dedicated recruiting for this regiment, so joining the 1erPLG will immediately tie you to this regiment.

Ingame, we use names given from a historically accurate roster of the 58th.

History of the 58th New York "The Polish Legion"

The Fifty-eighth Regiment was composed almost entirely of men of foreign birth. Various nationalities were represented in its organization, composed of Poles, Germans, Danes, Italians, Russians, and Frenchmen, most of whom were recruited in New York City. In August, 1861, Colonel Wladimir Krzyzanowski, a Polish officer who had seen service in the Polish war, was authorized by the Hon. Simon Cameron, Secretary of War, at Washington, to recruit a regiment composed primarily of Poles. It was seen as a step forward to the Polish Immigrant community that they to could play a part in putting down the Rebellion. In reality the regiment was made up of many nationalities with the Poles only being one ethnic group.

The 58th saw its first combat as apart of General Fremont's Army in the Shenandoah Valley facing the famous Confederate General Stonewall Jackson. They served a apart of the 11th Corps which was composed primarily of ethnic European "Foreign" Regiments. Many of the "Native" regiments composed of men who disliked foreigners held the 11th corps in low contempt. This coupled with unlucky situations at Chancellorsville & Gettysburg served to heighten the 11th Corp's Infamy as the worst troops in the Army of the Potomac.

After Gettysburg the 11th Corps including the 58th New York were sent out West to join General Sherman's Army. The Regiment spent the remainder of the war recuperating their heavy losses and guarding various posts in Tennessee. They were discharged upon the war's end. In closing the 58thNY served as a testament to the patriotism that Polish immigrants had patriotic loyalty to their new homeland the the resolve to make the last final measure of devotion to prove that fact, death of the battlefield.

General Discussion / Commander battle discussion?
« on: February 08, 2013, 04:56:19 am »
If there's going to be a commander battle mode again (which I assume there will be?) perhaps there could be a fifer, drummer, and flag along with the line such as in a game like Napoleon: Total War?

In NTW the three don't do anything I believe, but because NW already has buffs to flags and such, bots could also get said buffs?

this is just a suggestion, and I want this thread to also be a discussion.  Post away.

EDIT ; just realized I put this in NW discussion, sorry for wrong area post, but I suppose it still works.

Forum & Website / Can't delete posts.
« on: February 02, 2013, 02:42:35 am »
Didn't know where else to put this, so I suppose this will have to do.

Although it was easy to delete posts on taleworlds forums, I'm not getting any option to delete posts on this forum.  Is this on purpose or is it just me?

I ask because bumping my regiment's post makes it look bad when half of the messages are me saying "bump."

any help is appreciated

Regiments / 259th Rifles

259th Regiment of Rifles

About the Regiment
The 259th is a small group of people, formerly a part of the 4e (under the VIe) that split off to create their own regiment.  The 259th runs a skirmisher/light infantry role and has its own cavalry detachment.  The skirmishers are lead by Joe and the cavalry is lead by Sethja8, and when we have enough members, SURESHOT316 will lead line.  The 259th is currently low on active members and requires some recruits.  Moreover, we give out awards, courtesy of Loppen, which will be given upon doing the proper requirements.  The more members we have, the more awards, the more fun and the better the gameplay.  Perhaps you could be the next 259th?

About the regiment/rules
-No microphone is needed, as long as you have T.S. and are able to communicate/understand English.  Although a mic isn't REQUIRED, it would be extremely easier to have you in the regiment with one.
-Skill is not a requirement for the 259th, nor its cavalry.  We will train you in what role you need to be, you just have to know how to be formal and how to listen and follow orders.
-We enjoy having fun over being serious, but when it comes to line battles and trainings, don't sever our formality.  (i.e. kicking, going out of line, TKing, not following orders, the list goes on...)
-Enjoy the regiment!
-Sethja8 does not approve of dragoons.

Events
FRIDAY; (To be decided) Siege. (hopefully)
SATURDAY; (To be decided) Cavalry.
SUNDAY; SAdraGoons NA Linebattle.  Training is at 7PM EST, event is at 8PM.  Skirmishers.

Suggestions & Bug Reports / More sapper builds?
« on: December 04, 2012, 05:27:59 am »
I've heard there isn't going to be many more updates, but this was just an idea and maybe it'd be passed.  I've talked with some friends and they've somewhat agreed, so I thought "what the hell" and here it is.

I realized once I started playing N and S that having more sapper builds was pretty awesome.  The tent in N and S reminded me that there could be much more in NW for building.  Some ideas (from others and I) would be small fort things (wood walls or something like that?  they'd take long to build?) non-explosive crates/wood blocks (this was from a guy who noticed that building with squares is quite easy) something like the tent in N&S, and there were many more but I can only remember those.

I haven't heard anyone else suggest this topic, but I think it'd be nice to have a few more sapper builds before NW is finished having large updates.
