Russia ceased the IFF deals they had with the coalition above Syria, which means that, like at the beginning, accidents could potentially occur where they'd shoot each other's jets. What was the coalition's response? Stop flying altogether, at least for a couple days.
No. If there is a major war, it won't be between superpowers. Or it will, if one of the countries makes an unexpected backlash or makes a huge mistake. But, in the short term (say, 20 years), the chances are slim.
