Basically a clear place for people entering the forum to see what era's people do here. Easier to ask questions etc

We had something up here a while back, but seems to have been lost in the traffic, This is for the new people etc

Napoleonic light cavalry.

I dream that, one day, I'll rock a soviet impression and go zac Fritz-hunting.

As many know, ACW/WWI/WWII.
Humans are extremely complicated creatures. Death uncomplicates them to a frightening degree...

Why did you split ACW from the Victorian era?

Because
'Murica!
In theory we could do huge player numbers far over 500 players per server...  As such we will surely keep our promise to deliver you the 500 players per server.

We will probably go (far) over it, but that's for later.

Not really, It was an industrial war just like the rest of the wars in that period. The only difference is where it took place. I suggest you to put them together at once like this;

  • Victorian era 1831-1901 (Crimean war, American civil war, Franco-Prussian war etc.)

Wismar, why are you even making a point out of this? You're not even a re-enactor. Joseph, same thing.

The ACW is so big that mixing it with the little groups that to Crimea or Franco-Prussian war is just a ridiculous suggestion. There's not even a single person here who does anything Victorian, perhaps maybe Zac himself. Besides, you can't possibly compare the events, uniforms, battles or tactics of the Civil war with anything Victorian, which by the way is far too broad to be a good re-enactor term. It makes kind of a difference whether you Crimea or Franco-prussian - About 20 years, to be exact.

It's the same thing when Americans claim their war of 1812 was part of the Napoleonic wars. Hell no.

-.-

There's wasn't one way of tactics during the victorian era, I never said that. ACW was a part of the evolution of warfare during the victorian era. It would just make more sense to put it there.
Just beacause you go and pretent to shoot at some kids and elders (sorry, any other reenactors out there) doesn't mean you know more than me.

I don't have a gun, you silly goose! I use a sabre! I'm light cavalry. Tsss tss tss.

The 'Victorian' era is far to broad to be good re-enactment term, it's just that all European wars during that time-period are re-enacted so little, it's just shoved under one roof. It's like saying World war 1 and 2 are the same period. If you'd put ACW under Victorian era, it would be split up between >95% ACW and <5% other periods. I'm not pretending to know more about it, but I to like to think I know more about the habits of re-enactors.
