Well, I stopped the cooltext and added some effects to the text that I think looked simple and nice. Tell me what you think.

See, the reason why yours are sort of bothersome to look at is because your pictures and graphics are purely placed. Look at how I did the Russo-German Legion header. It's clean, minimalistic, had text that pops out... That's the look you should go for as it looks the best.
Check out this one I made too for another regiment of mine. I used a special text and used a gradient to make it look like it's popping out. You can try this too...
Still, look how it's clean and easily readable.
