Hi there. The 15th of May will see the release of the "Age of Napoleon" Mod for Battle Cry of Freedom. More about the mod here: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1358710/view/3203757592807598837



To celebrate the Mods release, we will be hosting a Napoleonic Wars Linebattle Event.
As such, we would like to invite your Group to participate in the Event.

The Event will take place on Sunday the 15th of May at 8:00 PM BST (21:00 CET) (15:00 EST)
Rules and more information about the event will be published at a later date but will be similar to regular Linebattle rules.

shown the thread a bit of love, the reference for the history part comes from the 5th KGL re-enactment group page http://www.kgl-linie.de/page02.htm honestly it's worth a read, as it has very good knowledge on the history of the KGL's career through the Napoleonic wars. I've personally highlighted the pertinent points about the 5th in particular.

This scene here interpreted by the fictional south essex is actually about the 5th KGL who were given a stupid order by the prince of orange and the colonel refused but had to obey and they were sadly all cut down only leaving 19 men alive and they lost one of the colours too

Around 6 o'clock the Prince of Orange told Sir Charles Alten, the KGL's divisional commander, to send forward the 5th line battalion to attack the French infantry, who were pursuing the men from the 2nd light battalion KGL retreating from La Haye Sainte. Col. von Ompteda, the 5th battalions commander had noticed French cavalry nearby and protested the order to Alten, but he was told to obey his general by the Prince of Orange, who had overheard the exchange. Von Ompteda mounted his horse, ordered the 5th into line (they had been formed in square to fight cavalry) and, at their head, advanced on the French infantry. The enemy infantry ran, but riding out of the mists of smoke came a regiment of cuirassiers . They charged into the flank and rear of the 5th line who, with their muskets unloaded, were cut to pieces. Von Ompteda was among those killed, a colour of the battalion was lost and only 19 men escaped back to the allied line
