Help tracking down Napoleonic war relatives
« on: November 14, 2012, 12:25:04 pm »
Hi there everyone, I saw a thread on the other forums about everyone's napoleonic war relatives, I myself tried but couldn't find anything, could anyone help find out if I had any relatives in the army at that time?

Just go to an library and search for it, or go to the municipal archives.

That was my thread ;)

Depends what country your from. But without some knowledge of your family at the time it is nigh on impossible.
My tips find out who your ancestors are, try ancestry.com if you have no information already. Then if your British you can read the officer records online at the national archives website. It is also possible they were an enlisted man which makes it much harder to track though I believe they have that down at the archives too. Though you would have to search the records by hand.
