Competitive EU Events/Tournaments / Announcement

There is a new global rule being implemented for all tournaments with infantry. Players are now required to have their moving backwards key not binded thus making it impossible to backpeddal. Tournaments that will not follow this rule will have their organisers ganked by naked Voluble at 4am when they are sleeping in their beds.

Some information is outdated as some changes have been made, but I can't be bothered to fix them.

On the 31st of March The Tournament Organisational Group thread has been posted on FSE forums. It is a group of 4 Head Organisers, organisers, referees, mappers, graphic designers and server providers who are all listed on their thread, but in addition to that they have also team captains which are not listed. Its goal is to prevent spam of low quality tournaments in the community and instead have well timed and well organised tournaments. I think this is a good idea and that spam of shit tournaments is a problem, but I have been sceptical of this group ever since I've heard it exists.

Eventually as I wanted to host a tournament I find out that things are even more dire than I thought they are. As I would acquire more information on TOG meanwhile negotiating with them when I simply wanted to borrow a server.

Here are my points to what is wrong with TOG:

1. It is a cartel group trying to maintain monopoly over hosting tournaments:

What I do not agree with is how this group operates. Something that you will not find on their thread is that everyone associated with this group (names you can find on their thread plus team captains, apparently 10 of them) is automatically forced to boycott any tournament organised outside of TOG. That would cause the tournament to have a really low attendance and would not be considered a community competitive tournament by the TOG. That could cause split of the community one side saying TOG is actual representation of the best community has and others saying that host outside of TOG are. Kind of like in middle ages when half of the time two people claimed to be king of the same Kingdom. Even though it might currently seem TOG with 10 team captains and others associated with the group represent the community what they claim too and think they are leaders of the community they clearly aren't. They might be majority of the competitive scene but even then am I supposed to believe every member of the each team was on board and fully understood what this cartel is? I don't think anyone should have the audacity to think they can monopolise tournament hosting in a community. When one of the head organisers (who's name is written first on the list and that has posted the thread btw) is a forum moderator who has been known for being power hungry at least in the past and when thread says nothing of recruitment of the team captains and boycotting it comes out really shady. And I can with doubt say this is a cartel even though not everyone involved with it might be aware of it. Voluble, Herishey if you wouldn't mind sharing our steam conversations on the forum as evidence for boycotting thingy that is conveniently missing from TOG thread,  that would be great. Else there are other means for someone to find the truth. pm me lul

2. It seriously hinders the creativity of tournaments:

You might think just join them 4Head, you get everything you need, its so easy. To host a tournament under TOG you must take their map, their server, their admins, their rules and you are also given exact date and time when the tournament will take place. I personally was able to negotiate the date because captains agreed on a different date, map and some changes in rules but I am not so sure everyone else would be so lucky. And about the format of the tournament as far as I understand 4 head organisers propose a few tournament types and captains vote on what they want, I believe it is possible that head organisers deny your tournament idea without a vote from the team captains. This means tournaments lose any kind of creativity outside of minds of head organisers. Sometimes you can't know if something is a bad idea until you try it. First groupfighting tournament,  NWEC were made as an experiment by Hekko, nobody was sure that it was a great idea, my point here being is head organisers nor team captains know what is a good idea and what is a bad idea for a tournament.

3. It makes it harder for community members to join the competitive scene and makes competitive itself stale:

Group is a few days old and it has 10 team captains signed. Which means it is likely more captains might want to join TOG. Eventually making it 16 which is team cap for all the TOG tournaments. Firstly team cap is beyond stupid. Nobody will care if you came 10th or 7th, you didn't win so having brackets with numbers of teams that aren't 2^n n€N (sorry disease) is completely okay. Recent tournaments have been 16 teams cap and always full. That clearly implies there is more teams willing to play than 16. So how does one join a tournament when there is 16 captains signing up within 10 minutes of a thread being posted. And these captains also won't be willing to take players in their team that they don't like or think are bad. With pretty much constantly same team captains you get same teams competing in 2 tournaments a month hosted by TOG. Sounds pretty boring to me.

So what do I want them to do?

I want them to change the way they operate in order to achieve their goal. I like connecting of organisers, mappers, referees and graphic designers in order to help each other. But I want them to drop boycotting tournaments hosted outside of TOG and recruitment of team captains. Instead when tournament is hosted they can post on the thread and offer help to the person hosting. Even if they go on with this boycotting cartel they can't completely stop other tournaments, there will be people who won't know about TOG and host tournaments and won't be willing to cooperate with TOG, so you can never fully stop spam of bad tournaments, you can just make them worse by them having low attendance and being kind of irrelevant. So boycotting will decrease them amount of those but so would just offering help and cooperation without blackmailing to boycott. Which method is more successful is debatable. Maybe a example of positive reinforcement being more successful than negative reinforcement is drugs. In Portugal drugs were legalized and drug users were considered patients that needed help instead of being criminals and the drug use has halved, meanwhile we can all see how well sending military in the streets works in South and Middle America.

Random Groupfighting League [4vs4]
On this piece of art you can see classical groupfight from Napoleonic Era. On the far right side you can see John Price behind the wall complaining about his teammates' performance. We can also guess that soldier that smells backstabs is UK_Thomas. Other soldiers are unknown but solider complaining about lag and server is probably of Swedish nationality.
The melee of members throughout the Community will be put on showcase for others to see and contestants will battle it out for the title of the Random Groupfighting League Champion. Server will be hosted in Europe. If you're looking to enter you better start preparing for it, as the spectacle will take place soon.
Rules
0. I can make up rules anytime I want.
1. This will be weekly league taking place on Wednesdays at 19:15 Scottish time.
2. To participate in the league you must sign up on forum, be in steam group and teamspeak at the time of event.
3. Come to teamspeak at 19:00, once the time is 19:15 random teams of 4 members will be made and put into separate teamspeak channels.
4. If you come after teams are made you can be a substitute if someone leaves the event.
5. You don't have to attend all the events but when you do please play until eliminated.
6. Each event will have tournament format, single elimination of matches first to 5.
7. Each player that will play until his team is eliminated will be rewarded with certain amount of points according to his teams' performance.
8. When event ends there will be leaderboard of participants' points.
9. Respek teammates you are assigned, speak English in teamspeak unless whole team agrees on another language, do not troll/grief your team because i'll get really angry. Whole organization of team is up to what team agrees on so this will hopefully help you with your social anxiety issues, improve your English, working together with people. All of this can be added to your resume when applying for job or school.
10. You must be in teamspeak but you don't have to have microphone.

Rules about matches: 
-No shooting.
- Line infantry are the only unit classes allowed.
- No fisting.
- Bayonets are the only weapons allowed.
- Matches are single elimination, if you lose you're out.
- Matches will be first to 5.
- Be gracious in Victory and defeat, if you wish to question an admins decision then please do so through steam.
- Once a team is called out to fight they have roughly 2 minutes to spawn in, if not then they will be disqualified.
- If you lose a member he also has 2 minutes to spawn back in other-ways he will be replaced by a substitute.

October's 2v2 tournament - 19.10.2013

Napoleonic Wars October Doubles Tournament
A lot of people liked last duel tournament and I already have admin team, so I decided to host 2v2 tournament on Saturday 19.10. 2v2 tournament will be hosted on French server (Bordeaux) named NWEC_2v2_Tournament_Server. Event will start 20:00 GMT.
Rules
-No shooting.
- Line infantry are the only unit classes allowed.
- No Jump stabbing or fisting.
- Bayonets are the only weapons allowed.
- Fights are 2 players vs 2 players.
- You have to sing up team with at least two members and max 4.
- Fights are single elimination, if you lose you're out.
- The Winner of each group will go onto the finals.
- Fights will be first to Three when in the Group stage, Once in the Finals it will become first to 5.
- Be gracious in Victory and defeat, if you wish to question an admins decision then please do so through steam.
- Once a person is called out to fight they have roughly 3 minutes to spawn in, if not then they will be disqualified.

Napoleonic Wars September Singles Duel Tournament
Once again a Duel tournament is brought to the community of Napoleonic Wars. The melee of members throughout the Community will be put on showcase for others to see and contestants will battle it out for the title of the September Duel Tournament Winner. Server is hosted in France but everyone can join. If you're looking to enter you better start preparing for it, as the spectacle will take place from Saturday the 21st of September to Sunday the 22nd of September at 19:00GMT.

Long time ago you were able to faint with help of switching between melee mode and shooting mode and faints were actually hard to block. Since bayonet in NW has only up and down attack its pretty easy to block so blocking is not challenge like in Native. Double-xing would bring many effective faints and would make blocking more of a challenge. Also it took a lot of skill to perform best double-x faints. Currently melee is just to much about all kinds of chambers and range (that includes footwork). Just because it was a bug in-game doesn't means you have to fix it, if it made game better then leave it be.

November's Napoleonic Wars European Nations Cup
After a long time the Nations Cup is brought to the World community. This is 10 players vs 10 players bayonet group fighting. There will be a group of 16 nations or Regions(On permission of the Organizers) split into 4 groups where evetually one nation will be crowned the Winners. The spectacle will be hosted from 9.11-7.12 every Saturday at 19:00 GMT. Servers will be hosted in Germany, names will be NWENC_1Server and NWENC_2Server.
Rules:
1. No shooting.
2. Only Infantry muskets are to be used.
3. Only line infantry which means no foot guards, Marines, Grenadiers or Militia.
4. No fisting, Jump-stabbing or Jump-blocking (kicking is allowed ofc).
4. Only 10 members of team can be in arena fighting.
5. Team has to have at least 12 members on roster.
6. Maximum number of members is 17.
7. Team members must have citizenship of nation's team. (eg. If you live in Belgium and you have Romanian citizenship you can play for Belgium or Romania.)
9. On permission of the event organiser, nations can team up in certain circumstances (eg. The Balklands, Scandinavia) This is on the basis that no nations in that area have entered a team.
10. A team can be multicultural (only one team though) if all members in that team are not in a Nation that has entered a team.
11. If you want to enter a team you must apply to be a team captain using the application format below. The organisers will decide then and will notify you if accepted or rejected.
Instructions for Team Captains:
TEAM CAPTAINS MUST READ

1. It is your duty to check when your team fights on FSE thread.

2. If your team is written, on left side on FSE thread you pick nation on left in-game. If right then right team.

3. Arena and server on which you fight is written on FSE as well. If you fight at 18:30 you will fight on NWENC_1Server.

4. Only player which fight can spawn in. When you want to change team members do it at start of next round.

5. No other killing than in arena when you are told to fight. If someone kills out of rules he will be punished with temporary ban. If he does it again he will be permanently banned.

6. When Admin calls your team by Steam chat you can join server not before. When you join server you spawn in your 10 members which will fight. When Admin writes: “Players in arena(-s)!” you can go in arena (so inside of white lines) and you form line on one side of field. Then Admin will ask: “Ready?” You don't have to replay yes or anything only if you aren't ready you type that you aren't. When round is over surviving players stay in arena and will be healed. Respawned players are not allowed to go in arena until you are not asked to do it.

Competitive EU Events/Tournaments / NWECT [Archive]

Short version: On the 18th of April at 20:00 UK Time a 5v5 Bayonet Only Groupfighting Tournament will be hosted to European Community. Sign-ups are open until 17th of April 23:59 UK Time. Arenas will be larger than usual to change things up and better simulate reality.

Napoleonic Wars European Community Tournaments is bringing you a quality produced Groupfighting Tournament on 18th of April at 20:00 UK Time. This time in a traditional 5 vs 5 alternation, which is by many considered to be the most prestigious type of melee. Groupfighting as we know nowadays started with a private Groupfighting event held with teams from 92nd in 84e in December of 2011 on MM mod for Warband. In the start of the next year Hekko hosted his First Public Groupfighting Tournament and has continued to host them monthly for more than a year. In March of 2012 Vampyr as Colonel of 8Lr hosted First Public Groupfighting Server which became practice place for upcoming tournaments. Groupfighting would become so popular that the owner of the main Groupfighting server would hold immense power in the community, as usually only the owner would be allowed to recruit players on that server. Not only was there many players on the server at all times those players were usually skilled in melee or were looking to improve in melee. That meant that regiment owning the Groupfighting server would also dominate the regimental competitive scene. In addition to that admin positions on the server would be granted to friends of the owner (I got mine with hardwork though) and his enemies would be banned (shout out to James Steward). Meanwhile in competitive groupfighting regiments would often send their regimental teams to Hekkos' and other groupfighting tournaments where winning would mean you are best in Europe. That eventually led to the creation of Regimental Groupfighting Tournaments, which became most exciting alternation of competiive groupfighting. But with the demise of great regiments and decline of general population groupfighting teams and clans became more popular. Clan groupfighting is now the main high end competitive discipline in Napoleonic Wars community and will continue to stay so until this trash game dies.

To spice things up, this Groupfighting Tournament will not be fully traditional, as the arenas will be much larger to allow for maximum possible maneuvering and force teams to decide how wide they want to play. This will hopefully bring fresh air for inventing new strategies. Or it could be as the wise Phalanx boi Andy said: 'You are gonna turn 5v5 into 2v2s and a 1v1, retar.' Another reason for larger arenas is to emulate the nature of linebattle melee where you are rarely restrained by a fence.

1. Format Rules
1.1. Single elimination tournament format.
1.2. Matches up until semi-finals are first to 5 wins, then first to 7.
(might change depending on amount of teams signed up).
1.3. Losers of semi-finals play match for 3rd place.

2. Team Rules
2.1. Team roster must contain 5 to 7 members.
2.2. Same player cannot be on two rosters.
2.3. Roster can be changed until 1h prior to the start of the Tournament.
2.4. Players can use fake names but their real names must be provided next to the fake name in the application.

3. In-Game Rules
3.1. Team has 2 minutes to be ready to start the match after being called. If they provide reason for delay waiting time can be extended.
3.2. 5 players must enter the arena from each of the opposing teams. Substitutes wait outside of the arena or are in spectator mode
3.3. Players in arena must wait behind the line until both teams inform the referee that they are ready and wait for his signal to start the round.
(If there is a misunderstanding and team is not ready they should crouch and show no signs of agression.)
3.4. No shooting, bayonet melee only.
3.5. Only ranker line infantry. No footguards, sailors or marines.
3.6. Team that has no more players standing in arena lost the round.
3.7. Survivors may ask for heals if they need them.
3.8. Teams can freely swap players that fight after each round.
3.9. Melee speed is going to be medium.
3.10. Do as you are told by referees.

The melee of members throughout the Community will be put on showcase for others to see and contestants will battle it out for the title of the September Duel Tournament Winner. Server is hosted in France but everyone can join. If you're looking to enter you better start preparing for it, as the spectacle will take place from Saturday the 21st of September to Sunday the 22nd of September at 19:00GMT.

Rules
-No shooting.
- Line infantry are the only unit classes allowed.
- No Jump stabbing or fisting.
- Bayonets are the only weapons allowed.
- Duels are single elimination, if you lose you're out.
- The Winner of each group will go onto the finals.
- Duels will be first to Three when in the Group stage, Once in the Finals it will become first to 5.
- Be gracious in Victory and defeat, if you wish to question an admins decision then please do so through steam.
- Once a person is called out to fight they have roughly 3 minutes to spawn in, if not then they will be disqualified.
