Hello! I am very grateful for being given the opportunity to be the EU Community Representative for the July - September term, my main goal is to focus on the overall community rather than just one sector although in my CR Application I was more interested in focusing on the casual community this does not mean entirely that I will be forgetting the competitive community at all! because I have less experience in the competitive community I am not going to be abandoning it at all however I ask for those members in the competitive community that want things to happen, to help me to help you by coming forward with ideas you may have so that they may be discussed further.

My goals and objectives briefly:
- To be the voice of the community and ensure that its members are being given the opportunity to have their ideas put forward and to have the opportunity to express how they feel about the community and what things could be done to improve it.
- Influx of new community members, I plan on trying to increase the community's current population in a number of different ways some ways that I listed on my application were to create unique sub-boards and such.
- Assist the moderation team with moderating the forums, helping out with settling disputes within the community and trying to cut down on the general toxicity that lays within the community.
- Review the community currently and come up with suggestions that could be used to improve things such as dying sub-boards, while also tackling another other forum issues that are currently showing colours.
- Also going to be looking at attempting to host both casual fun events and competitive events, will also be looking at hosting overall community events with prizes to be won ect.

As a community representative, it is my responsibility to ensure the community are being listened to and that anything the community want is brought up to the table of the FSE moderation team and is put up for discussion, so I would really like to hear your feedback as a community on what things you'd like to see implemented or changed.

Regiments / 79th Regiment Of Foot "Cameron Highlanders"
« on: March 22, 2019, 12:00:53 am »

The Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders was a line infantry regiment of the British Army formed in 1793. In 1961 the regiment was amalgamated with the Seaforth Highlanders (Ross-shire Buffs, The Duke of Albany's) to form the Queen's Own Highlanders.
The regiment was raised as the 79th Regiment of Foot (Cameronian Volunteers) on 17 August 1793 at Fort William from among the members of the Clan Cameron by Sir Alan Cameron of Erracht.

The regiment was deployed briefly to Ireland and southern England, then to Flanders in 1794 where it took part in an unsuccessful campaign under the command of the Duke of York during the French Revolutionary Wars. On its return to England the 79th Foot was listed for disbandment, with the men being drafted into other units. In the end the regiment was reprieved, being instead posted to the West Indies in 1795; after a two-year tour the 79th returned to England again. The regiment was again in action against the French at the Battle of Alkmaar in October 1799 during the Helder Campaign. In 1800 the 79th was part of a force that took part in a failed assault on the Spanish coast at Ferrol.

The 79th Foot landed in Egypt as part of an expeditionary force to prevent French control of the land route to India and saw action at the Battle of Abukir in March 1801. After victories at Battle of Mandora and Battle of Alexandria later that month, the British forces forced the surrender of the French forces at Cairo. Along with other regiments that took part in the Egyptian campaign the 79th Foot were henceforth permitted to bear a sphinx superscribed EGYPT on its colours and badges. The 79th spent the next two years in Minorca and a second battalion was formed in 1804.

Originally on the Irish establishment, the regiment became part of the British Army in 1804 and was renamed the 79th Regiment of Foot (Cameron Highlanders). The 1st Battalion took part in the Battle of Copenhagen in August 1807 during the Napoleonic Wars.

Forum Games / Famous Name Game
« on: October 06, 2017, 01:31:57 am »
Hello! I am back with my quite enjoyable forum games.
Today I bring you the "Famous Name Game" How do you play? well, It's simple!
The person above adds the first and last name of a famous person.
The next person has to think of a famous person whose first name begins with the first letter of the previous last name.
You cannot use the same name TWICE!
For the time being, until this grows, names with accents/fancy letters will not be allowed, this is so that the game can get booted up and as it grows it will get harder!

Example
Hugh [J]ackman

[J]ack [N]icholson

[N]icollette Sheridan
and so on... (I've put the starting of some letters in brackets to maybe make you understand more, Heres a written example: Hugh Jackman, You would use the last name and find a famous person with that last name letter to make it a first name [Hugh Jackman -- > Jack Nicholson, and so on!
I'll begin
Steve Buscemi

Regiments / 3rd Kings German Legion - Hussars [Recruiting EU]
« on: July 01, 2017, 01:44:07 am »

The King's German Legion (KGL) was a British Army unit of mostly expatriate German personnel during the period 1803–16. The Legion achieved the distinction of being the only German force to fight without interruption against the French during the Napoleonic Wars.

The Legion was formed within months of the dissolution of the Electorate of Hanover in 1803 and constituted as a mixed corps by the end of 1803. Although The Legion never fought autonomously and remained a part of the British Army during the Napoleonic Wars (1804–15), it played a vital role in several campaigns, most notably the Walcheren Campaign, the Peninsular War, and the Hundred Days (1815).

The Legion was disbanded in 1816. Several of the units were incorporated into the army of the Kingdom of Hanover, and became later a part of the Imperial German Army after unification in 1871. The British German Legion, recruited for the Crimean War, is sometimes erroneously referred to as the "King's German Legion".

The Legion was known for its excellent discipline and fighting ability. The cavalry was reputed to be among the best in the British army. According to the historian Alessandro Barbero, the King's German Legion "had such a high degree of professionalism that it was considered equal in every way to the best British units." After the victory at Waterloo, the Electorate of Hanover was re-founded as the Kingdom of Hanover. However, the army of Hanover had been reconstituted even before the final battle, so that there were two Hanoverian armies in existence. In 1816 the Legion was dissolved and some officers and men were integrated into the new Hanoverian army.

Peninsular War
In February 1810 the regiment sailed for Lisbon for service in the Peninsular War. It took part in the Battle of Campo Maior on the Spanish-Portuguese border on 25 March 1811 in a clash that occurred between British and Portuguese cavalry, under Robert Ballard Long, and a force of French infantry and cavalry under General Latour-Maubourg. The regiment, two and a half squadrons strong, led by Colonel Michael Head, charged and routed a superior French cavalry force of no less than six squadrons. The regiment, with two Portuguese squadrons, then went on to pursue the French for seven miles to the outskirts of Badajoz. The report reaching Lord Wellington seems to have glossed over the epic quality of the charge and emphasised the overlong pursuit. After receiving Marshal Beresford's report, Wellington issued a particularly harsh reprimand to the regiment calling them "a rabble" and threatening to remove their horses from them and send the regiment to do duty at Lisbon. The officers of the regiment then wrote a collective letter to Wellington detailing the particulars of the action. Wellington is reported as saying that had he known the full facts he would never have issued the reprimand. The historian Sir John Fortescue wrote, "Of the performance of Thirteenth, who did not exceed two hundred men, in defeating twice or thrice their numbers single-handed, it is difficult to speak too highly
Waterloo
The regiment, commanded by Lieutenant-Colonel Shapland Boyse and forming part of the 5th Cavalry Brigade, next took part in the Battle of Waterloo in June 1815. The regiment charged repeatedly during the day and completely routed a square of French infantry. An officer of the 13th wrote: Our last and most brilliant charge,
was at the moment that Lord Hill, perceiving the movement of the Prussian army, and finding the French Imperial Guard on the point of forcing a part of the British position, cried out, - "Drive them back, 13th!" such an order from such a man, could not be misconstrued, and it was punctually obeyed. At that battle the armies of Field Marshal the Duke of Wellington and Generalfeldmarschall Gebhard Leberecht von Blücher decisively defeated the armies of the Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte.
