I'll lock the old one.
Probably one of the very few old-timers here who hasn't been a regimental leader.

Never played an ArmA game but Im interested in the third one. Is it worth it to jump in as a no name new player in it? Does it have an interesting campaign?

I saw a clone wars mod and many others that seem enjoyable. Just asking here on the forums for different opinions.

I guess the SP is good, but if you want to play Mods or really play Arma3 as it is supposed to be played, you should join a clan in their Arma MP sessions/missions.

I.e. I am trying to recruit you for our group:

Oh that's quite nice. Yeah I have seen some roleplaying teams that play milsim and they are very realistic. If this unit can give me a strong foundation and basis in this game I'm totally up for it. Still have to buy the game and uh a strong Game PC tho.

Is the Singleplayer playable or is it crappy like Battlefield 4?

You really do not play arma for the sp or for public play. It is pretty much a clan based game. Playing the game is only really fun and makes sense when playing it together with a group of people.

I guess the SP campaigns are playable, and I am sure there are some good SP missions designed by modders, but really you play arma for something else.

Yeah the multiplayer aspect really interests me in this game. It's just sometimes to chill out if the SP is good then I just jump sometimes on it. But I'll mostly play it for Milsim. Are there any good mods out there I can already check on YouTube or so before I can play the game?

RHS for modern gear for Rusfor/NATO/Rebels/Serbs etc.
Furthermore there's a shitton of mods that use these mods for basic gear for factions along with building on them with more mods like ACE,CBA, Task Force, Enhanced Movements and many, many more.
If you've got questions u can probs find me easily on Steam but I've played a bit of Arma 3, only 1k hours or so though so I'm not that experienced but I do know most of my shit related to Milsim groups.
